Staff Achievements 2018-19

Dr.Poonam Dave, cleared the RPSC third grade teacher examination and she left college in October 2018 to pursue a career in the government services.
Mrs.Veena Lohar was invited as a judge to screen local talent during the auditions for the Cultural Program sponsored by Wonder Cements and organised by the Udaipur Municipal Corporation during October 28-29, 2018 in preparation for the Deepawali Mela held in the city during October 28-November 11, 2018.
Mrs.Aruna Mathur cleared the UGC-NTA National Eligibility Test (NET) Examination (Education) conducted in July 2018.
On October 29, 2018, (Dr.) Archana Singh was awarded the Ph.D. Degree by the Pacific University for her doctoral research under the guidance of Dr.Madhu Sharma and Dr.N.N.G.Mathur.
On November 28, 2018, Dr.Sarita Jain, our Hindi Lecturer was appointed Zilla President of the Udaipur (Urban) Wing of the Samta Sahitya Academy.
On January 30, 2019, (Dr.) Yateen Chaubisa was awarded the Ph.D. Degree by the Mohanlal Sukhadia University for his doctoral research under the guidance of Professor Sushma Talesra, Principal, VBGSTC.
Mrs.Meena Kalra was awarded the Teaching Professionals' Olympiad (TPO) 2018 Certificate by Centre For Teacher Accreditation (CENTA), Bengaluru for her achievement in the Olympiad.
Dr.Kanwraj Suthar our Faculty, guided two research scholars as a Ph.D. Supervisor of the Pacific Academy of Higher Education The thesis submitted under his Supervision is titled "An Empirical Study of the Role of Women Development Programmes in the Empowerment of Democratic Decentralization (In Special Reference to Udaipur District)".
The Art Work-Painting of our Art Lecturer Dr.Mohanlal Jat was selected by the Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi.
Mrs.Tripti Rathore and Mrs.Durga Kumawat cleared the Research Entrance Test conducted by MLSU on March 11, 2019, and got enrolled in the Ph.D. Program 2019.

External Examination D.El.Ed. First and Second Year (2018-19) at Fateh School, Udaipur May 30 onwards

The external examination for both the years of D.El.Ed. course were held in June 2019. The staff members were assigned duties at the exam Fateh School centre.

Sessional Work Evaluation D.El.Ed. First (2018-19) and Second Year (2017-19 Batch) May 4-10, 2019

All the mentors checked the sessional work subject wise for both these batches of D.El.Ed. program.

Internship Work Evaluation and Viva Voce D.El.Ed. Second Year (2017-19), April 30-May 3, 2019

The second year students of the present D.El.Ed. program met their mentors and submitted their internship files for evaluation. The mentors checked whether they had completed all the formats and reports in the file and handed over the marks to the evaluation department.

Orientation on Filling of Online Exam Forms, April 25, 2019

The exam forms for D.El.Ed. first year students were filled online this year. Shri Hemprakash Paneri from office staff of VBGIES, demonstrated how to fill each entry online. This brought about clarity and avoided errors.

Mid Term Examination B.Ed. (First and Second Year) and D.El.Ed. (First and Second Year) April 10-27, 2019

The internal examination of B.Ed. Students was held during these dates. Ms.Sonika Rathore and Ms. Neha Murdia coordinated the program.

Annual Sports Days April 3-4, 2019

The annual sports were organized for two days in the first week of April. Dr.Bhagwati Ahir, Principal, inaugurated the event. Various sports events were held both for boys and girls such as, 100mt race, 200mt race, relay race, hurdle race, shot put, etc. Shri Mahendra Singh Khatri, Technical Expert motivated the students. Shri Hemant Trivedi conducted the program. Dr.Sarita Jain and Mrs.Aruna Mathur did the compering.

Annual Day and Prize Distribution Program, April 8, 2019 The annual day and prize distribution program of the institution was organised on April 8. Shri Ajay Mehta, President, was the chief guest and Dr.Suraj Jacob, CEO, was the guest of honor. Dr.Bhagwati Ahir presented the annual report of the institution. Shri S.P.Gaur, Shri Akhil Trivedi, Shri Bhati, from VB Society, Prof.Sushma Talesra, Principal, VBGSTC, Shri Anil Mehta, Principal, VB Polytechnic, Mrs. Renu Jadhav, VBSSS, eminent educationist Prof.M.P.Sharma participated. Various cultural programs were presented by students. Prizes for academics, sports, discipline, etc. were presented. Mrs.Meena Kalra extended scholarship assistance to two students (highest attendance and first position) in memory of her husband Shri Sushil Kalra. Dr.Tara Kumawat offered the vote of thanks. The program, which was coordinated by Dr.Yateen Chaubisa and team, ended with lunch.

The course-17 practical exam for second year B.Ed. (2018-19) was conducted for the whole batch. Dr. Priyanka Jain coordinated the program details of test given.

B.Ed. First Year Sessional Submission, March 28-April 4, 2019

B.Ed. First Year Students took guidance from their mentors and subject experts and submitted their sessional work during these dates.

Science Outreach Program - Lecture on "Planetary Missions" by Dr. Anil Bhardwaj, Director, PRL, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India.

It is generally believed that when science is explained is an easy way to students through question and answer mode rather than communicating pure scientific content, their retention, interest, enthusiasm to learn the subject improves greatly. They also understand and appreciate the need and importance of scientific research and development in the country. When young students get an opportunity to interact with eminent scientists face-to-face, they learn about their work and become curious about Science topics. In fact, they may even be inspired and motivated to become scientists themselves. In view of the above, as part of its Science Outreach Program, Physical Research Laboratory (PRL) Ahmedabad and Udaipur Solar Observatory partnered with Vidya Bhawan Society to organise a Lecture cum Demonstration Session for staff and students (especially Science teachers and Science students) of VB Schools and Colleges. 332 Students and 75 Faculty members from three Vidya Bhawan Schools and two Vidya Bhawan Teachers' Training Colleges, 25 Staff members from VB Office, 61 Students from non-VB schools, 35 Staff members and Junior, Senior, Post Doctoral Research Fellows from PRL Ahmedabad and Udaipur Solar Observatory participated in this program.

Scout Guide Camp for D.El.Ed. First Year Students, March 7-13, 2019

A seven day scout guide residential camp was organised with assistance from Hindustan Scout Guide for First Year D.El.Ed. Students at Prakriti Sadhna Kendra (PSK) on the outskirts of Udaipur city. On each day Yoga, Trekking, Camp Fire, other activities were held. In the night session students performed folk music and dance from local areas. They performed skits on superstitions and environment conservation on the first day.
On the second day, Shri Narendra Audichya, and Zilla Secretary supervised the activities and motivated the students for participating enthusiastically. They explained the grading of certificates given to scout guides by the State Secretary. On the third day, students used local resources to decorate the camp venue. The activities on the fourth day included bird watching, trekking. On this day, Lt.Col. Shri Premshankar Shrimali, Shri R.D.Singh Gill, Hindustan State Organisation Commissioner and Shri Khoobilal Sharma, Nimbark Ganga Society participated and discussed the importance of camp, discipline, etc. In the night session students presented patriotic songs . On the fifth day, students learnt how to tie different kinds of knots. In the night session, songs, dances, mimicry, etc were presented.
On the final day, Shri Ajay Mehta, President, Vidya Bhawan Society, Shri Ramniklal Shrimal, Director, PSK, remained present. Dr.Bhagwati Ahir who was present throughout the camp, motivated the students to learn from all the activities and be good citizens. Shri Hemant Trivedi coordinated the program and delivered the vote of thanks.

Art and Drama and ICT Practical Exam B.Ed. First Year (2018-20), March 11-12, 2019

The Art and Drama Workshop and Viva voce as well as the computer practical exams for the 100 B.Ed. First Year students were conducted by the concerned staff members Dr.Mohanlal Jat, Ms.Veena Lohar and Ms.Mamta Shrimali.

Visit to Department of Science and Technology (DST), February 28, 2019

The Department of Science and Technology was established in the state in 1983. It takes necessary measures to promote utilization of science and technology for enhancing socio economic status of the state. Various programmes and activities of the department are executed through well established regional offices located at Ajmer (H.Q. Jaipur), Bikaner, Kota, Jodhpur and Udaipur. Addition to these regional offices State Remote Sensing Application Centre, Jodhpur is also working under this Department. The Students of Science Club of B.Ed. and D.El.Ed. Program were taken on a visit to the DST Office at Udaipur for an educational trip. They observed various models based on Science Concepts and discussed scope of science teaching. Ms. Meena Kalra and Ms.Sonika Rathore coordinated the visit.

Lecture on 'Challenges to Indian Democracy' February 24, 2019, at Vidya Bhawan Rural Institute

On February 24, 2019, the well known lawyer and social worker Shri Prashant Bhushan delivered a lecture on the above theme. Over 100 staff members and students from VB institutions, representatives from local NGOs and MLSU participated. He discussed the meaning of democracy, positive and negative elements in Indian politics, role of government and ways of enhancing funds in the Government treasury, role of youth in democracy, etc. Dr.Suraj Jacob, CEO, VB chaired the session while Prof.Sanjay Lodha, Head of Department, Journalism, MLSU was the Chief Guest. Dr.Manoj Rajguru coordinated the program. Dr.Bhagwati Ahir, Principal, Dr.Yateen Choubisa, Ms.Aruna Mathur participated in the lecture. It was interesting to learn about the new publication 'Reclaiming the Republic' shared with the participants.

Swine Flu Awareness Lecture, February 19, 2019, at VBGIES

In view of the increase in number of Swine Flu related deaths in Rajasthan, the Vidya Bhawan Wellness team members visited all the VB institutions to create general awareness on the subject. On February 19, Dr.Nishtha Jain delivered a lecture on Swine Flu Causes, Symptoms, Treatment and Prevention. Ms.Pragya Tak coordinated an interactive question answer session with the staff and students which helped to clarify many doubts. Dr.Tara Kumawat presented the vote of thanks.

Vidya Bhawan Staff Sports and Cultural Meet, February 16-17, 2019

The VBGIES staff members participated in the sports and cultural meet held for all VB institutions. The President, VBS, declared the sports meet open. Various events such as, 100 Meter race, Shot put, Volleyball, indoor events-Table Tennis, Badminton, Carrom, Dodge ball, Cricket ball throw, Tug of war, Spoon race, etc were held for women and men in two days. Ms.Veena Lohar presented a dance performance in the cultural program.

Pre Marital Counseling Workshop-Counseling Young Adults for Healthy Relationships, MLSU, February 11, 2019

Marriage is a socially and ritually recognized union between two people that establishes rights and obligations between them. To create awareness on the subject, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities along with the Rajasthan Women's Commission organized the above workshop at MLSU. 200 staff and students from various university departments and affiliated colleges were present. Professor Sadhna Kothari presented the need and importance of the program and its details. Four technical sessions on religious and cultural context of marriages, familial role and responsibilities, psychological aspects and meta health were held. Dr.Vinita Bohra, Additional Secretary, Tribal Development, was the Chief Guest. Prof.J.P.Sharma, Vice chancellor, MLSU stressed on conserving the joint family system in India. The keynote speaker, Chetan Upadhyay, Jail Superintendent, and Ms.Sushma Kumawat, Former Member, Rajasthan Women Commission, focused on how selflessness can save relationships. Prof.Vijaylaxmi Chauhan explained the role of marriage in passing on cultural heritage to the next generation. The Chairperson Priyanka Jodawat stressed on the need for introspection to energise any relationship. In the end Dr. Sweety Chhabra spoke about aspects of meta health. Dr.Sushma Intodia and Dr.Tara Kumawat represented VBGIES.

Criticism Lessons Second Year D.El.Ed. (2017-18)) February 13-27, 2019

Staff provided guidance to students in lesson planning after which second year students presented their criticism lessons subject wise.

Basant Panchami on February 9, 2019

Basant Panchami is a festival that marks the arrival of spring. It is dedicated to goddess Saraswati who is goddess of knowledge, language, music, and all arts. Ms.Durga Kumawat presented a brief introduction to the festival and a shloka in reverence of the Goddess in the morning assembly.

Vidya Bhawan Scholarship Event 2018-19, February 7, 2019

The Vidya Bhawan Society organised a program to honour over 150 students across VB institutions who are receiving scholarships to continue their education as well as thank the donors who made the scholarships possible. The CEO, Dr.Suraj Jacob, made a presentation on the new initiatives of VB such as, Languge Plus, Wellness Centre, Research on Accountability and Sanitation, Modernising School Project, Daylong School, Shiksha Sambal, Unchi Udaan, Bageecha, Mechtronics, Seed hub and Animal Feed Project. The President Shri Ajay Mehta thanked the donors for believing in Vidya Bhawan and enabling young minds to learn and explore their full potential. A planning meeting was held on February 4, 2019. Representatives from all VB institutions participated to discuss the modalities of setting up an exhibition and organise a cultural program in the event. VBGIES B.Ed. First Year students presented a group song. Charts and models prepared by college students were displayed at the exhibition.

Internal Evaluation February 6-12, 2019

The students of B.Ed. Second Year (2017-18) batch met their internship mentors and shared the work they completed in the field. The mentors guided them on how to complete their files and prepare their PowerPoint presentations for final viva.

Workshop on "Multimedia-A Tool for 21st Century Teacher" February 2, 2019

A staff meeting was held on 27th July with Shri Kamal Mahendroo Sir, VBERC and Principal Dr. Dr. Bhagwati Ahir, Mrs. Mamta Shrimali, Mrs. Aruna Mathur, Mrs. Nirmala Sharma and Dr. Priyanka Jain of VBGIES participated in a workshop conducted by Dr.Vineet Soni of the Botany Department, MLSU, Udaipur. The workshop was inaugurated by Prof.Kanika Sharma, Head of Botany Department, MLSU, and had over 30 participants from Teacher Training Colleges of Udaipur. Discussion was held on definition of multimedia, types of animation files and players, how to save these files, definition of teaching and learning, learning objectives, teaching methods, criteria of good teaching, multimedia learning process, etc. The presentation on 'Advances in Pedagogy' by Dr.Khushbu Singhal, Principal, U.S.Ostwal Science, Arts & Commerce College, Mangalwd was informative.

National Conference on "Learning Beyond the Classroom", March 6, 2019, at Ahmedabad

The A G Teachers Training College (CTE), was established in 1952 by the Ahmedabad Education Society (AES) and since then it has been conducting pre service, and inservice training programs for secondary and higher secondary school teachers in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Surendranagar districts of Gujarat. On March 6, AGTC organised a national conference sponsored by Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) with an objective to provide a platform to disseminate ideas and practices fostering learning beyond boundaries. The sub-themes discussed were: Teacher as transformer, Measuring Learning Outcomes, Contemporary Policies and Frameworks.
105 Participants from different states of India participated. 37 Papers were presented in three parallel technical sessions on topics such as Innovations in teaching and learning, Teacher education, Tools and techniques of evaluation, Value education, Education outside the classroom, Online education, Artificial intelligence in education, Contemporary educational policies, Professional learner communities, Skill development, etc.
Shri B.M Shah, Director, AES, and Dr.A.H. Kalro, Academic Advisor, The AES, Former Director-IIM K, Former Professor & Dean-IIM Ahmedabad, were the Guests of Honor. The Keynote address was delivered by Dr.Vijaya Sherry Chand, Chairperson, Ravi J Matthai Centre for Education Innovation and Co-Chairperson, JSW School of Public Policy Executive Committee, IIM, Ahmedabad.
Dr.Ratnik Gandhi, Independent IT Consultant, shared his experiences in the plenary session "Experiment in Teaching with Active Learning Approaches".
The second plenary session had Dr.Megha Bhatt, Scientist & Founder Sciknowtech, Ahmedabad, and Dr.Kathan Shukla, Assistant Professor, Ravi J.Matthai Centre for Education, IIM, Ahmedabad as the speakers. Mrs.Aruna Mathur represented VBGIES in the conference.

Alumni Meeting of VBGSTC, January 27, 2019

The VBGSTC Alumni Meet was held on January 27 at VBGSTC, Dewali. Ms.Aruna Mathur and Dr. Yateen Kumar Choubisa participated from VBGIES. Games and lunch were organised for the participants. Elections were held. Dr.Jagdish Chandra Vyas was elected as the President, Kailash Chandra Rawal was elected as Vice President, Kuldeep Singh Chauhan was elected Secretary, Anita Bhanawat as Joint Secretary, and Dr. Suyash Chaturvedi was elected as Treasurer. Dr.Smita Pachauri was elected as Coordinator and Shri Manoj Gandharv as the Media Convenor. The chief guest of the program was Dr.Suraj Jacob while Shri Ajay Mehta, President, VBS, presided over.

Republic Day Celebration at Vidya Bhawan Rural Institute, January 26, 2019

The head, staff and students of VBGIES joined other VB friends and colleagues to celebrate the 70th Republic Day together at the VBRI campus on January 26. Shri Ajay Mehta, President, Vidya Bhawan Society, presided over. The program was followed by refreshments.

A Session on Personality Development by Rajasthan Patrika-Gillette India Team January 21, 2019

Rajasthan Patrika organised a special career development and personality grooming event named 'Safalta apni muthi mein' in association with Gillette Guard in various cities of India. As part of this event, the patrika team conducted a session on personality development for the VBGIES students. They also conducted a written test for direct recruitment. One of the B.Ed. first year students Pannaram cleared the test competing with others at the state level and will now be answering the personal interview.

Talk 'Mysterious and Thrilling Experiences in the Wild' by Arefa Tehsin, January 21, 2019

"Steed of the Jungle God: Thrilling Experiences in the Wild" is a collection of essays written by wildlife conservationist Raza H.Tehsin alongwith his daughter, Arefa Tehsin. On January 21, a program was organised at the Vidya Bhawan Auditorium where the authors interacted with staff and students of VB schools and colleges to share stories about discovering species, encountering ghosts, putting to rest local folklore, living peacefully with superstitions, and wildlife. Arifa's message for the students was 'do not be afraid of the dark, the unknown and the wild'.

Budget Meeting at VBGIES, April 17, 2018

In March 2018, the CEO and Accounts Head, Vidya Bhawan Society, had visited VBGIES and conducted a meeting with the principal and senior staff on the budget for the organization. The suggestions were incorporated and budget was shared again with all the staff members on April 17, 2018. Further changes were made based on feedback.

Review Meetings at VBGIES May 13-June 4, 2019

Beginning middle of May 2019, review meetings were held on a regular basis to discuss and provide feedback on the work done in 2018-19 and plan for the next session. The roles and responsibilities of all teaching and non teaching staff were decided for the next session.

On the eve of Ambedkar Jayanti a poetry recitation session was held at ERC, Vidya Bhawan Society for all the interested staff members. Participants presented self composed poetry and that of other renowned regional, national poets. The topics included rights of children, women, and other disadvantaged communities. Dr. Bhagwati Ahir and Ms.Aruna Mathur participated in the event.

Academic Planning Meeting at VBGIES, April 11, 2018

Dr.Suraj Jacob, CEO, VB Society and Shri Kamal Mahendroo, Senior Fellow, VB Education Resource Centre visited VBGIES on April 11. A meeting was held with all staff members to discuss how the team should conduct academic planning for the next session. The B.Ed. and D.El.Ed. curriculum, teaching and learning goals, modes, indicators for measuring outcomes, etc. were discussed.

On third day, In the evening a village rally was organised on the theme of 'Swachhta". Students performed nukkad natak to create awareness on girl child education, blind faith, etc. This was followed by a colorful cultural program. The chief guest was Dr.Preeta Bhargav, DIG (Prison). She called upon the students to keep the inherent human alive in oneself to face challenges of the outer world. The guest of honor was Dr.Sugan Sharma, former principal, VBGIES. She applauded the efforts of staff and students for putting up the program. All in all, a learning experience.

Open Air Session VBGIES Composite Unit at Kaya, Udaipur, April 3-6, 2018

To plan and implement the open air session successfully, an open air committee was formed with the following members: Dr.Bhagwati Ahir, Principal as Camp Director, Shri M.S.Khatri as Advisor, Dr. Mohanlal Jat and Dr.Kanwaraj Suthar (Convenor and Co-Convenor). The other staff members and student leaders were included in the Camp Council. An advance party with members of camp committee, camp council and support staff visited the site on April 31, 2018, to supervise the preparatory work. The lodging and boarding arrangements, venues for different camp activities, programs were decided. The staff and students reached the venue on April 3, 2018. Activities started with inaugural function and survey work. Data was collected from Govindpura, Panva, Talai and Kaya village. On the first evening, Shri Ajay Mehta, President Vidya Bhawan Society visited the camp and encouraged the participants. He shared Dr.Mohan Singh Mehta's vision of social equity and equality. On the second day, apart from the daily activities, a camp fire was held in the evening. The Chief Guest was Shri Dinesh Kothari, Director, State Institute of Educational Research and Training (SIERT), Udaipur. He stressed on the importance of training and experience in gaining new knowledge and direction in life. On the next day, students conducted data analysis from the data gathered through survey. Orientation Lecture on Open Air Session (OAS), March 27, 2018

On March 27, 2018, the distinguished educationist of Udaipur, Dr.D.N.Dani, was invited to the campus. He delivered a lecture and made a power point presentation on the concept, need, importance of OAS and explained how it is different from a project or Socially Useful Productive Work (SUPW) or scout camp. He discussed the objectives of OAS both in terms of student-teachers being consumers and producers as follows: (as a consumer) to learn how to live together, how to work in a team, harnessing the qualities of all team members, use the local resources, use the local environment as a laboratory, establish a co-relation between classroom teaching, school subjects and the local environment, to learn how to conduct a survey, gathering, classifying, analysing information, presenting it meaningfully. He stressed it is a purposeful social activity done with a scientific attitude and wholeheartedly. As a producer, the students learn how to plan and organise a trip/camp, maintain discipline, develop the qualities of a researcher, be sensitive to social issues and needs of the local community, learn about their own hidden talents, learn from the community. He encouraged and motivated the staff and students to enjoy the camp.

Dr.Mohan Lal Jat participated in a friendly badminton sports event held on March 27, at the VB Senior Secondary School, Dewali, Udaipur. Dr. Jat won a singles match 21-9 against Shri Narendra Prajapati of VBGSTC...it's all in the family!

The Department of Hindi, Jai Narain Vyas University (JNVU) and Institute of Languages, Uttar Pradesh, jointly organised an international seminar on March 24-25, at Jodhpur. The guest speaker was Professor Karuna Shankar Upadhyay, Mumbai University. A Kavya Sandhya was organised in the evening in which, notable poets Prof. Usha Raje Saxena (London), Prof.Vidyutma Mishra, Banaras University, Prof.Chandan Chaube, Mahatma Gandhi University, Gujarat, Prof.Kumud Sharma, Delhi University and others participated. Ms.Nirmala Sharma our Hindi Lecturer presented a paper "Pragatisheel Jan Kavi Nagarjun ke Kavya Mein Rashtriya Chetna".

Pre-Phase Open Air Session, March 23-28, 2018

The Open Air Session (OAS) is a unique and much awaited event in VB schools and teacher training colleges every year. It includes community living, study of local environment and resources, games and outdoor activities, community service, camp fire, public awareness rally, exhibition, cultural program, etc. The VBGIES Composite Unit Open Air is to be held at the Mohan Singh Mehta Rural Training Centre, Kaya, Udaipur, during April 3-6, 2018. The theme is "Kaya Ek Nazar Mein". The objective is to help students learn organisational skills, understand how locally available resources can be used for classroom teaching, and how to live together in harmony in unfamiliar circumstances. The preparatory activities for OAS began on March 23, 2018. B.Ed. First Year and D.El.Ed. First and Second Year Students were divided in four groups/societies- Nature, Governance, Culture and Community, and Livelihood (based on Gandhian way of life). The mentors discussed the duties assigned to their society and distributed the roles and responsibilities to all students in their groups. On March 27, 2018, a team from Seva Mandir made a power point presentation and discussed the activities of the organisation in Rajasthan particularly, in the Kaya region. An invitation card for the OAS was designed and distributed to heads of other VB institutions and well wishers.

Guidance to First Year B.Ed. Students Completing One Month School Internship, March 23-24, 2018

The first year B.Ed. Students who were placed in schools for a one month internship in middle of February, returned to college in the end of March. They met their mentors, got the necessary papers checked and prepared their reports. Their relieving details uploaded by school principals on Shala Darpan (government portal) were checked. A feedback meeting was held with them.

Seminar on 'New Vision of Teachers' Education: Issues and Challenges', March 23, 2018

The Faculty of Education, Mohanlal Sukhadia University (MLSU), Udaipur, in collaboration with Aravali Teacher Training College, Debari, Udaipur organised a one day seminar for Principals of all MLSU affiliated TT colleges. Prof.P.R.Vyas, Dean, Department of Education threw light on the future of TT colleges in India. He stressed on the need to strengthen the link between TT colleges and the University Department. Renowned educationist Dr.D.N.Dani called upon the colleges to adopt innovative strategies to enhance quality of Teacher Education. The guest of honour Dr.Surendra Dwivedi, Dr.Alpana Singh, Head, Department of Education, Dr.Jaya Chittora, Principal, Aravali College also shared their views on the topic. All the principals shared the activities of their colleges. Dr.Bhagwati Ahir, Principal, VBGIES, and Dr.Kanwar Raj Suthar participated. Alongwith other programs they shared the organisation's efforts to strengthen research activities.

Meeting of VB Language Club, March 17, 2018

A meeting of the language club members from different VB institutions was held at the VB Education Resource Centre. The group came up with topics for discussions: falling standards of standard language, multilingualism, language debates in the constitutional assembly, language related provisions in the Indian Constitution, etc. Since a large number of people expressed interest in holding a 'Kavya Sandhya', it was agreed to organise one on April 13, 2018, (eve of Ambedkar Jayanti).

Contact Program for Second Year B.Ed. Students, March 16-17, 2018

Our B.Ed. Second Year students are presently in the field and are shortly going to complete their four month school internship. Mid way through the program, a contact program was organised on March 16-17 for them at the college. The objective was to assess their field work, sort out the problems being faced by them in the schools allotted to them in their home districts. Dr.Sarita Jain and Dr.Priyanka Jain coordinated this program. The students met their mentors, showed their lesson diaries, reports, individual and group work files and took guidance as required.

Scholarship Award Ceremony 2017-18, March 17, 2018

Vidya Bhawan has always strived to provide quality education to students from all sections of the society; including those, who are from modest socio-economic and educational backgrounds. Various trusts, foundations, institutions and individual donors have assisted the organisation in this endeavour by extending financial support. On March 17, a program was held at the Vidya Bhawan Auditorium, Udaipur, during which scholarships were awarded to 150 students from nursery to higher secondary levels. The guests included, Dr.Meena Gaur, Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Ms.Pushpa Sharma, VB Old Boys Association and Shri Bhagwat Babel, Secure Meters. Dr.Suraj Jacob, CEO, Vidya Bhawan Society, highlighted the importance of providing equal opportunities to every student in the changing social and economic context. Shri Babel stressed on the importance of 'education for all' for creating a civilised society. Shri Ajay Mehta, President, VBS, Ms. Neelima Khetan, Group Head, Corporate Social Responsibility, Vedanta, and Ms.Priyanka Singh, CEO, Seva Mandir, Udaipur were also present. The program was conducted by the VB Wellness Centre team. Staff and students of VB institutions, donors, guests and families of students receiving scholarships were presented on the occasion. Two B.Ed. students from VBGIES, Kamlesh Parikh and Nishant Sharma received the Dr. Suresh Mahajan scholarship and John Bisal Scholarship for 2017-18 respectively.

A Talk on English Competence... March 13, 2018

Shri Narendra Sharma from the CSR division of Secure Meters, Udaipur, conducted a session for our staff members on "Enlarging the Canvas-How to read, lead and grow". He discussed the historical background of English language in India, the need, role and importance of this language in the country. Using powerpoint presentation and real life examples he also discussed strategies for enhancing student engagement and being 'information literate'.

A Gold Medal to Our Staff Member! Another Proud Moment...March 10, 2018

Our senior faculty member, Dr.Sushma Intodia, was awarded the Gold Medal for securing First Class First Position in the Master of Arts (Sociology) Course 2002 at the Convocation Ceremony organised by the Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth Deemed-to-be University, Udaipur. Although the award came in a tad bit late, nevertheless, we are proud to share this news with you all. At the same function, Dr.Tara Kumawat received the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Degree.

Poetry Recitation Competition, March 10, 2018

As part of literary activities, a poetry recitation competition was held for all the D.El.Ed. students. Ms.Neha Murdia and Ms.Tripti Rathore coordinated it while Ms.Nirmala Sharma and Ms.Veena Lohar were the judges. Students Arvind Lakhawat, Mehboob Khan and Sawai Ram were declared as the first, second and third place winners respectively. The program was chaired by the Principal Dr.Bhagwati Ahir and conducted by two students- Archana Menaria and Prakash Sevak. Shri Hemant Trivedi offered the vote of thanks.

Participation in the National Seminar May 21, 2018

Participation in the National Seminar "Dialogue on Cultural Diversity and Development" organised by Western Regional Centre, Anthropological Survey of India, May 21, 2018. The Western Regional Centre, ASI, was founded with the objectives of undertaking systematic probing among castes, tribes and communities in the western region of India to provide baseline information as well as understand the nature and extent of bio-cultural variations and relevant problems of the people. On May 21, Dr. Kaneez Fatma from VBGIES participated in the above seminar organised as a part of the National Project, People of India: Cultural Diversity. The welcome address was delivered by renowned Anthropologist Dr. Bibhu Kalyan Mohanty while Professor B.P.Bhatnagar, former Vice Chancellor, Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth, was the Chief Guest. Five papers were presented by the participants.

Letter Writing Competition February 17, 2018

On February 17, as part of the literary activities of the institute, a letter writing competition was held for B.Ed. and D.El.Ed. students. They were given a choice of writing a leave application or application for employment. 32 D.El.Ed. students participated. Hindi Divas Celebration, Sep. 14, 2018

VBGIES composite unit celebrated Hindi Divas with great devotion and zeal on Sep. 14, 2018. An open discussion was held on "Challenges and Status of Hindi Language in Teacher's Education." Resource person Dr. Indushekhar Tattpurush; President Rajasthan Sahitya Academy, Udaipur expressed his views on the importance of Hindi Language, its significance and laid emphasis on its promotion to value and respect our National Language. In the question-answer session, he also clarified the doubts of students regarding its structure, pronunuation, grammatical errors etc. Shri Suraj Jacob, CEO, VBS presented his views on respecting every language. President VBS Shri Ajay Mehta expressed his views on the origin and divergence of Hindi Language. Anchoring was done by Rashmi Sharma and Himanshu Gurjar. Essay Writing Competition, September 28, 2018

An essay writing competition was held for B.Ed. and D.El.Ed. Students. 95 Students participated. The theme was "Gandhi in my Vision". Winners were Indra Meena and Monika Trivedi (1st and 2nd from B.Ed.); Suresh Suthar and Yudhveer Singh (1st and 2nd from D.El.Ed.). Judges were, Principal Dr. Bhagwati Ahir and Ms. Nirmala Sharma, Lecturer, Hindi. Dr. Archana Singh and Ms.Veena Lohar conducted the activity. Contribution in the National Institute of Open Schooling Initiative Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) programme is a specifically designed package for inservice untrained teachers working in primary/ upper primary schools of different states of the country. The programme has been developed by the Academic Department, NIOS on the initiative of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India, keeping in view the NCF 2005, RTE 2009 and NCFTE 2010. The Programme aims at enabling the target group to develop in them skills, competencies, attitudes and understanding to make teaching and learning more effective. NIOS Personal Contact Program (PCP) Classes and Workshop Based Activities (WBA) for Inservice Teachers September 2018-January 2019 The PCP classes for the inservice teachers enrolled in the NIOS D.El.Ed. Course began on September 1. This year it was decided to hold the classes in three batches of five days each. The first batch classes were held during September 1-5, in which information related to assignment work, health and physical education, and work education was shared with the participants. The second and third batch classes were held from October 6-10 and October 28-November, 2018. The assignments for papers 506-510 were completed by the participants and submitted on November 15. The final phase of NIOS work was completed during December 31, 2018 -January 5, 2019. A 12 day workshop was organised wherein discussion was held on action research, project work, community related issues, concept mapping, continuous and comprehensive evaluation, timetable, portfolio, types of assessment, etc. On the last day a contributory lunch was organised by the participants. The workshop ended with a feedback session on the two years course and the classes held at the institution.

Poem Recitation Competition

A poem recitation competition was organized on 28th July 18 at VBGIES. 23 D.El.Ed I & II yr students actively participated and exhibited their talent and confidence and came forward on the topics like patriotism, humorous, religious, friendship etc. participants recited them with great zeal and enthusiasm. Participants were judged on parameters like confidence, voice modulation, rhythm and overall presentation. The final judgment was made by Dr. Sarita Jain and Dr. Poonam Dave in presence of Principal Dr. Bhagwati Ahir. Mehboob Khan and Roopendra Rathore of D.El.Ed IInd yr stood first. Bhera Ram from D.El.Ed Ist yr stood second in the competition Dr. Bhagwati Ahir appreciated and applauded the performance of the participants. The program was convened by Ms. Meena Kalra and Ms. Archana Singh. Anchoring was done by Mehboob Khan and Roopendra Rathore of D.El.Ed IInd yr.

100 Trees Planted: 13 September 2014

Students and faculty members planted 100 trees in the College campus on 13 September 2014. The trees were provided by the Gold Club for Dainik Bhaskar's campaign titled 'One Tree One Life'.


 

Makar Sankranti Celebrations at VBSSS, January 14, 2019

Makar Sankranti marks the first day of the Sun's transit into the Makara (Capricorn) and signals the end of winter and start of longer days, festival of harvest. The staff and students celebrated the day with VB Senior Secondary School, Ramgiri (in the same campus). Colourful decorations were done, cultural program was held and prizes were distributed to meritorious school students.

Inauguration of Vidya Bhawan Wellness Centre-Workshop on Mental Health and Wellness July 14, 2017

Just like physical health, it is crucial that we all give importance to our mental health. In an effort to to address the mental health issues of VB students and staff members, and to encourage and support positive mental health for all including guidance and counselling, a Wellness Centre has been initiated under the VB Society umbrella. The Wellness Centre was inaugurated with a workshop on this subject at our premises. Prof.(Dr.)Vijaya Lakshmi Chouhan, (Retired Professor and Former Dean, Students Welfare Board & Head of Department-Psychology, Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur) conducted the workshop. She stressed on the need to have open conversations on the subject among the staff and students and adopt a participatory approach to understanding the concept of wellness. The focus should be on developing a positive self concept, self confidence and the ability to deal with realities of life. The activities of the centre will include sharing, caring, learning how to respond instead of reacting to tough situations etc.

Annual Prize Distribution and Farewell Program, May 19, 2018

The VBGIES annual prize distribution ceremony and farewell program for the second year D.El.Ed. and B.Ed. students (2016-18 batch) was held at the Vidya Bhawan Auditorium on May 19, 2018. The passing out students were welcomed with a Tilak on the forehead. The juniors presented solo and group songs and dances. Certificates and medals were awarded to those who participated enthusiastically in all the activities. Similarly those who excelled in academics and sports events and those with full attendance were also honoured. Dr.Anil Jain, Assistant Professor, Department of Education, Vardhaman Mahaveer Kota Open University, Kota, was the Chief Guest. Shri Ajay Mehta, President, VB Society, presided over. National Seminar on 'Quit India to New India: History & Society', February 15-16, 2018

To celebrate the completion of 75 years of Quit India Movement, the Department of History, University College of Social Sciences and Humanities (UCSSH), Mohan Lal Sukhadia University, Udaipur, organised a seminar on February 15-16, 2018. 200 Historians and Research scholars from all over India participated. Eminent historians including Prof.S.K.Bhanot, Prof.Makandar Mehta, Prof.Shireen Mehta, Prof.Yokul Ali, Prof.G.N.Mathur, Prof.K.S.Gupta shared their perspectives on Indian history and society. The Chief Guests were! Prof.J.P.Sharma, Vice Chancellor, MLSU (inaugural) and Prof. U.S.Sharma, VC, Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT) at the closing ceremony, The main speaker was Prof.Himanshu Chaturvedi from Deendayal University, Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. He discussed the events related to the Quit India Movement and their relevance. Prof.Sadhna Kothari, Dean, UCSSH, presided over. There were parallel sessions on various sub-themes. From VBGIES, Dr.Kanwraj Suthar, Lecturer, Political Science, presented a paper 'Mahatma Gandhi's contribution in the Quit India Movement' while Dr.Mohan Lal Jat, Lecturer, Fine Arts, presented a paper on 'Azadi ke Baad Rajasthan Mein Kala Vikas'.

International Women's Day on March 8, 2018

The theme for International Women's Day this year was "Time is Now: Rural and urban activists transforming women’s lives". To create awareness on the occasion, students were asked to reflect on the relevance and importance of celebrating the day. On March 9, D.El.Ed. student Kiran Kunwar shared her thoughts in the morning assembly. She brought up the issue of safety of women and highlighted the need to promote girl child education.

A Visit to Vidya Bhawan Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Badgaon, Udaipur on March 5, 2018

VB KVK (Farm Science Centre) aims to achieve "fine tuning of agriculture technologies, training of farmers, rural youth, extension personnel and execution of programmes of national importance". It has a range of demonstration units, which give villagers a first-hand experience of the innovations and trends in agriculture and allied areas. On March 5, a new Vermi-Compost Demonstration Unit was inaugurated at VBKVK. 15 D.El.Ed. students and eight staff members participated in the program and also visited the other units functional there. This helped the teacher educators and student teachers to gain a better understanding of the activities at the Agricultural Farm, Orchard, Dairy Farm, Poultry, Nursery, etc.

Simulated Teaching Program, October 5-15, 2018 (Phase-1) and October 22-26, 2018 (Phase-2) for B.Ed. Students

Simulated teaching is a teacher training technique used to bring about modification in the behavior of the teacher. It is used prior to the classroom teaching practice with the objective of developing specific skills of pre-service teachers and make them effective. In 2018, the Simulation Teaching Program was held in two phases (two teaching subjects). 100 B.Ed. First Year Students were divided into nine subject groups. Student teachers did this work in the guidance/supervision of subject experts. The program was coordinated by Ms.Aruna Mathur and Dr.Kaneez Fatma.

Vivid Programmes mark Hindi Week: 15-19 September 2014

'Hindi Saptah' (Hindi Week) was celebrated at the College from 15 to 19 September 2014. At the commencement of the programmes, Chief Guest Shri Suyash Chaturvedi said that rational thinking and original writings should be promoted at the teachers' training colleges.

On 16 September 2014, an Extempore Competition was organized in which Lalit Choubisa secured first position while Pooja Joshi and Prabha Rathod stood second and third respectively. In the Poetry Recitation Competition, Surendra Charan secured first position, Altaf Hussain, Pooja Joshi and Jitendra Dangi second and Manoj Meghwal third.

A panel discussion of students on the 'Status and Upliftment of Hindi' was held on 19 September 2014. Origin and status of Hindi, dominance of English, unavailability of good translations of literature and books of science and other subjects in Hindi were raised. The recommendations include individual efforts, freedom of selecting language of communication in English medium schools, use of simpler language for making Hindi accessible to all and making Hindi a compulsory subject in Higher Education. Dr. Sugan Sharma, Principal of the College, said that students should cultivate the habit of reading good literature and make efforts in original thinking and writing.


 

Dandiya Competition held on September 22, 2017

To celebrate the festival of Navratri, a dandiya dance (dance with sticks) competition was held. Students of B.Ed. Ist Year and Second Year came dressed in their festive attire and participated enthusiastically. Ruchita Jain won the first prize, Anjana Kunwar Chauhan won the second prize while Laxmi Prajapat won the third prize. Dr.Sugan Sharma, Principal presided over. Ms.Nirmala Sharma and Dr.Sarita Jain were the judges. The program was conducted by Ms.Veena Lohar, Lecturer, Music, VBGIES.

Gandhi Shastri Jayanti Celebration September 24-October 16, 2018

This year, October 2, was a very special day as it marked the start of the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi. The institute rededicated itself to spreading the Gandhian values and ideals by participating in and organizing various programs during the month of October. The programs were conducted in various VB institutions society wise. This included, voluntary campus cleaning, Essay Competition, Chart Making, Handicraft making, Gandhian values based programs for school children, drama, drawing and painting, etc. The inaugural program was presided over by Shri Bhagwat Babel, Vice President, VBS, while Dr. Suraj Jacob, CEO, VBS was the Chief Guest. Shri S.P.Gaur, Organizing Secretary, VBS, Shri Zahid Mohammed, Head, Human Resources, VBS, and other eminent educationists were also present.

Time Table Review Meet

A staff meeting was held on 27th July with Shri Kamal Mahendroo Sir, VBERC and Principal Dr. Bhagwati Ahir to review time table, work distribution, subject paper and unit division, mentorship. Also discussed about quality education, tutorial classes and its objective more emphasis were given to inculcate interest amongst students and to maintain harmonious relationship. Various program and activities like internship, internal and external examination, co-curricular activities etc. were critically assessed.

Pre-Viva B.Ed. II Year (2016-18 Batch) Students, May 14-18, 2018

Apart from their lesson plan diaries, self made teaching aids, students who returned from the four month internship program will be presenting their individual and group work and reports through PowerPoint presentation before the University appointed external examiner as part of the final exam. In preparation, the internal evaluation (pre-viva) was conducted during May 14-19, 2018. They also shared their learning and feedback on the internship program. This effort was coordinated by the Convenor and Co-Convenor- Dr.Sarita Jain and Dr.Priyanka Jain.

Exploratory Workshop on Cinema in Education, February 14, 2018

Breakfastatcinema is a collaborative effort of two movie-loving individuals Shibangi Das and Abhinav Kandarp aimed at sharing love for the culture of moving images and its versatility as a medium of learning. They aim to use cinema as a medium to create opportunities for individuals and organisations to learn about themselves and the world around them. On February 14, they conducted a one day workshop for VBGIES staff members. It was held at the Education Resource Centre, Vidya Bhawan Society office. Issues such as 'unintentional consequences of actions', 'inherent ideas and unconscious biases related to gender', 'handed down ideas in gender', 'gender depiction in cinema' were discussed through games, activities and screening of film clippings. The workshop ended with a needs assessment for further training.

Release of Pratham-ASER Report, January 16, 2018

Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) is an annual survey that aims to provide reliable annual estimates of children’s schooling status and basic learning levels for each state and rural district in India. The 2017 ASER made an attempt to look ‘beyond basics’ and explore a wider set of domains beyond foundational reading and arithmetic – activity, ability, awareness and aspirations of adolescents in the 14-18 age group. It was carried out in 28 districts of 24 states in India. About 2,000 volunteers from 35 partner institutions, visited more than 25,000 households in 1,641 villages, surveying more than 30,000 14 to 18 year olds in all. Vidya Bhawan Society partnered with ASER and assisted them in conducting the survey in interior villages of Udaipur district, Rajasthan. Students of both Vidya Bhawan Teachers' Training Colleges and Vidya Bhawan Rural Institute participated as volunteers and interviewed 1,071 youth in 920 households in 60 villages. Looking to their engagement in the field, two students of VBGSTC were invited to release the report at a grand function held at New Delhi. Ms.Aruna Mathur, Lecturer, VBGIES, represented Vidya Bhawan Society alongwith the students, at the national release function.

Demonstration Lesson, Sep. 13, 17 and 18, 2018

VBGIES composite unit conducted a demonstration lesson under the supervision of the principal Dr. Bhagwati Ahir on Sep 13, 17 and 18. Each subject mentor presented a demo lesson before student teacher general and specific aims and objectives of an ideal lesson plan, introduction, teaching point, previous knowledge, presentation, recapitulation, evaluation etc. air requisite elements kept in mind while preparing an ideal lesson plan. Feedback session was also held. Program was convened by Dr. Kanwraj Suthar, Dr. Tara Kumawat.

Competition on Youth Inspiration: 19 September 2014

The state level Yuva Prerna Competition was organized by the Udaipur branch of Vivekanand Center Kenyakumari on 19 September 2014 in the College. An objective type written test based on Swami Vivekanand’s life and philosophy was organized in which 31 students participated. A day-long camp was organised on 28 September where certificates were presented along with a book titled 'Safal Yuva Samarth Bharat'. Two of the college students, Suresh Vishnoi and Jitendra Vaishnav attended a camp organized at Bherana Dham near Jaipur from 1 to 5 October 2014. Indian athlete Mr. Gopal Saini and General (Rtd.) G.D. Bakshi shared their experiences with the students.

19th Umed Mal Lodha Memorial Lecture, February 12, 2018

The well known Udaipur based NGO, Seva Mandir, has constituted a trust in the memory of late Shri Umed Mal Lodha, who made relentless efforts for Wasteland Development in Seva Mandir work area from 1986 to 1999 (till his death). The Trust aims to acknowledge the commitment and initiative of local communities, both women and men, who have come forward and made efforts for conservation of village pastures and forest lands. This year the award function was organized on 12th February and Chief Guest of this event was Shri Brij Gopal, President, National Institute of Ecology, Jaipur, Rajasthan. Shri Ajay Mehta, President VBS and Shri H.R.Bhati, President of the Trust, presided over. Members of the Lodha family, VB and Sewa Mandir staff, students and other guests also participated. Shri Brij Gopal discussed the water scenario in Rajasthan, particularly, Udaipur, the need of traditional water bodies "as commons" for multiple benefits, importance of community-led management of water bodies and catchment management as an integral part of water bodies management, the government notifications related to wetlands, the 'commons' vs. 'commodity' debate in the context of water/water bodies, etc. He also shared from experience how efficiency of water use can be improved through integrated management. Shri Ajay Mehta applauded the efforts of the awardees and said that they had embodied Gandhian thought and spirit in the true sense by putting the needs of the community over every selfish or individual interests. He said they were already revitalising the Gandhian ideology of the trusteeship system as regards the management of natural resources. From VBGIES, Dr.Bhagwati Ahir, Principal, and eight staff members participated in the program. Cash awards and public felicitation were offered to village groups for their efforts towards management of natural resources, particularly common lands, forest areas. It was a great opportunity to learn about Sewa Mandir work.

Psychology Practical Exam and Sessional Work Submission May 11-12, 2018

In the second week of May, Psychology Practical exam (viva) was conducted for the second year B.Ed. students who returned from their four month school internship. This was facilitated by Dr.Priyanka Jain and Ms.Sonika Rathore. Simultaneously they submitted their sessional work to their group mentors.

The 1st International Print Biennale India, New Delhi, March 1, 2018 - We were there!

It is an honour to share that the first jury, appointed by the Lalit Kala Akademi (National Academy of Art), an autonomous organisation of the Government of India, Ministry of Culture, selected an untitled art work (50*31 cm, plastic) of Dr.Mohan Lal Jat, our Fine Arts Lecturer, for the 1st International Print Biennale India. His entry was among the 127 selected entries from a total of 988 entries of Indian artists. Apart from him, only three other artists from Rajasthan were selected. His art work was displayed along with others at an exhibition entitled "Eminent Printmakers of India" held at the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi, during March 25-April 22, 2018.

"India Needs More Raman", February 28, 2018

The staff members participated in a lecture organised by VB G.S.Teachers' Training College on the National Science Day. It was delivered by Dr.Vinit Soni, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany, Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur. He shared interesting quotes from eminent role models in the field of Science and Education- Late Dr.Abdul Kalam, Late Prof.Yashpal - and discussed the situation in present classrooms, and how we can prepare ourselves for 21st century teaching and learning. He shared advancements in Information and Communication Technology and motivated teachers and students to leverage technology for their growth.

Ms. Pooja Joshi and Mr. Jeetendra Vaishnav participated in the University level (Teachers' Training Inter-college) debate competition organized by Nimbark Teachers' Training College on 21 February 2015. The topic of the debate was “In the opinion of this house two-year curriculum is essential for graduate teacher training".
Ms. Pooja Prajapati and Mr. Bhairav Dutt Joshi participated in inter-collegiate solo dance competition organized by the Aravalli Teachers' Training College on 21 February 2015. Ms. Pooja Prajapati received consolation prize along-with certificate and memento.

"Sanskrit Day" celebration on August 11, 2017 and Participation in Sanskrit Song Competition August 12, 2017

To contribute in the effort of reviving the Sanskrit language, the staff and students enthusiastically celebrated the Sanskrit Day by presenting songs, poems, quiz, in Sanskrit. The Principal, Dr. Sugan Sharma welcomed the chief guest Dr.Devendra Pandya, Coordinator, Samskrita Bharati (a movement for the continuing protection, development and propagation of the Sanskrit language, literature, tradition and knowledge systems), Udaipur Centre. Dr. Pandya highlighted that Sanskrit is the language of the Vedas, it is most scientific and ancient language and is computer compatible. He also shared that different IITs in India have developed tools/software for reading and authoring in this language. Dr. Suraj Jacob, CEO, Vidya Bhawan, who presided over, discussed why in context of any language we need to think about the oral culture alongwith written texts, aspects of politicisation of languages as well as the link between language and culture. On August 12, Samskrit Bharati, Udaipur organised a Group Song Competition. The Mayor, Udaipur Municipal Corporation was the Chief Guest. Mrs.Durga Kumawat our Sanskrit Lecturer compered the program. Three of our B.Ed. students (Durga Kumhar, Kalpana Shrimali, Neelam Joshi) participated with instrumental support from our Music Lecturer, Mrs.Veena Lohar. We are proud to share that the group won the First Prize in the Senior Category.

Teacher's Day Celebration, Sep. 5, 2018

VBGIES composite unit celebrated Teacher's Day with zeal and zest on sept. 5, 2018. Celebration started with the lightning of the ceremonial lamp by the principal Dr. Bhagwati Ahir. Students expressed their respect and gratitude towards teachers through self composed poems and speeches. Mentors of each society were felicitated by the students of respective society. A floral tribute was given to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan in whose memory teacher's day is celebrated. A self composed poem was presented by Ishita Shrimali (B.Ed I year). An importance and role of teacher's in everyone's life was presented by Bheraram of D.El.Ed I year. Meritorious students Geeta Meghwal was also felicitated on this auspicious day on the selection in level II or III grade examination commendable effort of a Rangoli Artist Santosh Kumar was also appreciated. Anchoring was done by Rashmi Sharma, Gaurav and Himanshu. Program was coordinated by Neha Murdia, Sonika Rathore, Veena Lohar and Durga Kumawat.

Navratri Celebration on October 16, 2018, at VBGIES

As part of the cultural activities, a Garba Dance Competition was organized for the first year students of B.Ed. and D.El.Ed. programs. The students came dressed up in their fineries and danced together in joy. The Principal, Dr.Bhagwati Ahir and Ms.Veena Lohar, Music Lecturer were the judges. Govind and Chandrika won the first prize for Dance and Dress from B.Ed. and Naveen and Suraj as well as Usha Salvi, Usha Jeengar won the second prize in both the categories respectively.

"Malhaar 2018" Cultural Program of Vidya Bhawan Rural Institute (VBRI), February 12, 2018

As part of the cultural program Malhar 2018, Mehendi, Rangoli, Dance, "Mr. and Miss VBRI" competitions were held at Vidya Bhawan Rural Institute (VBRI) on February 12, 2018. It was a honour for Dr.Sarita Jain and Ms.Mamta Shrimali from our institution, to participate as judges for the events. Dr.T.P.Sharma, Director, VBRI, presided over while the chief guests were, Dr.Suraj Jacob and Shri Nanalal Vaidya. Guests of honour included, Shri Ajay Mehta, President, VBS, Shri Pramod Samar and Shri Gajendra Bhandari. The title of 'Mr.VBRI' was won by Prashant Nagda while Nikita Jhalora was declared 'Miss VBRI'.

Prateeksha Wins second position in the inter colligate debate competition

Ms Prateeksha Jain secured second position and a cash prize of Rs. 1000 in the intercollegiate debate competition organized by R M V Girls B Ed College, Udaipur on April 21, 2016. The topic of the debate was “Education is the only means to inculcate Gender Sensitivity among Youth”.

School Experience Program

Forty days of school experience programme was conducted for the student-teachers to get a real life experience of the teaching processes. The student-teachers visited six schools in order to observe the school environment and later discussed their observations that facilitated developing an understanding about school and children before actual classroom teaching. Simulated lessons were organized from 27 November to 10 December 2014. The student-teachers began with content analysis and developed lessons based on lecture and explanations. The students then studied in groups the position papers of NCF-2005 for their respective subjects to develop an understanding about lessons utilizing learners and community knowledge. They refined their work during feedback session at the end of simulation lessons. An orientation was held on 9 January 2015, where the student-teachers were briefed about the management and functioning of the school by Mr. Yashwant Sharma, Principal, Government Secondary School, Gorella. Mr. Asit Roy, Physical Instructor of the College, described preparation of tracks, scoring and making judgments during athletic events. On 10 January, Ms. Saroj Sharma, teacher in Government Upper Primary School, Dhawda in Gogunda block, informed about the co-curricular activities in government schools and ways to organize them. Mr. Mohan Meghwal of Government Secondary School, Lakhawali acquainted student-teachers with school records.

After the preparatory phase, rigorous School Experience Program was conducted from 12 January to 7 February 2015 in the Government Senior Secondary, Secondary and Upper Primary schools of Bhujada, Thoor, Gorella, Brahmano ki Hunder, Naya Kheda and in Vidya Bhawan Senior Secondary School at Ramgiri, the demonstration school of the College. The criticism lessons were conducted from 21 January to 4 February. The lessons were supervised by the headmasters and teachers of the respective schools along with the College faculty. The feedback help improve the lessons of the student-teachers. The lessons were planned and delivered on the basis of constructivist approach (5–E Model). Organization and functioning of school and classrooms were studied. Student-teachers organized morning assembly, sports, 'Meena Munch' activities, Bal-sabhas and Shanivariya sabhas. The student-teachers prepared the school students for group songs, dances and plays on social issues such as child marriage, girl child education and Basant Panchami celebrations. They also learnt to organise March Past, P.T. and Pyramid formation for Republic Day parade.The student-teachers along with school students holding placards carried rallies. They exhibited Nukkad Nataks on cleanliness and presented the benefits of having toilets at home in villages. The students-teachers trained school students in mandana, bandhej, masks, repairing a press, book binding, making paper bag, envelope, collage, card, mud toys and puppets. They learnt to make sitting arrangements and serve mid-day meal to school students while getting a hands-on to prepare Mewari dish 'dal-baati-churma' themselves in the traditional manner. The student-teachers helped in the beautification of school by making mandana and paintings of patriotic leaders on the schools walls. Trees were planted, flower buds were prepared and kitchen garden for vegetables was developed in these schools. Problems related to adolescence, superstitions and lack of community support and participation in school activities were identified and documented in the form of a case study by Ms. Aruna Mathur, faculty member of the College.
 

Four Month School Internship of B.Ed. II Year Ends

Four Month School Internship of B.Ed. II Year (2016-18 batch) Ends, May 10-11, 2018. The second year B.Ed. Students who were in the field for four months for their internship in their home districts, reported back to the college. The mentors checked their work and whether all their papers are in order for evaluation.

Lecture on the Relevance of Gandhian Values in Present Times, September 25, 2019

Shri Narendra Sharma from Secure Meter, Udaipur delivered a lecture for student teachers of B.Ed. & D.El.Ed on the topic of relevance of Gandhian values in present times. The whole session was interactive. He discussed the special qualities of Gandhi ji which made him a world famous leader.

Meeting to Discuss Salary Structure Revision within Vidya Bhawan Institutions, October 25, 2018

Decision making within VB institutions has always been a democratic process. A meeting was held in all VB institutions to discuss the proposed changes in salary structure of all employees. In this series, on October 25, 2018, Shri Ajay Mehta, President, VBS, Dr.Suraj Jacob, CEO, Shri Zaid Mohammed, Head, Human Resources, Shri Akhil, CFO, Shri Bhati and Ms. Dipti from Society office visited VBGIES and shared the formula used to calculate the proposed structure for salary revision within the institution. The staff gave their comments on the presentation and clarified their doubts.

School Internship Program Ends

The first phase of the one month school internship program for D.El.Ed. first and second year students ended on May 10. The students will continue their internship once government schools reopen after summer vacations.

National Workshop on Experimental Research Design Programme, February 9-10, 2018

The Janardhan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth (deemed to be University), Udaipur, Rajasthan, organised a workshop under Centrally Sponsored Scheme of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), on February 9-10, at the Lokmanya Tilak Teachers' Training College (LMTT-CTE), Dabok, Udaipur. The Principal, Dr.Bhagwati Ahir and 12 staff members of B.Ed. and D.El.Ed. Programs participated from VBGIES. On the first day, eminent educationists, Dr.A.B.Phatak and Dr.Dani discussed experimental research designs in detail. On the second day, in the first session, Dr.Ajay Surana, Head, Department of Education, Banasthali Vidyapeeth Jaipur, discussed the statistical terms related to experimental research designs. In the second session, in four groups, participants selected research topics and prepared research designs, which were then discussed in plenary. They learnt how to select a research problem, decide the variables, how to prepare tools, types of tools for data collection, type of statistics to be applied to analyse the data. The workshop helped to clarify nuances related to educational research, especially, experimental research.

Interaction with Principals: 2 September 2014

An educational dialogue was held with Principals of 16 schools to develop an understanding of the expectations of schools from teachers' training college. The Principals suggested year long experience of school for B.Ed. students; and planning of classroom teaching by the students and teachers and faculty of teachers' training colleges. They also appreciated the morning assembly conducted by B.Ed. students in previous practice teaching.


 

Extension Lecture on Goods and Services Tax (GST), August 19, 2017

The Goods and Service Tax Act was passed in the Indian Parliament on 29th March 2017. The Act came into effect on 1st July 2017. A lecture was arranged to create awareness on the topic. Dr.Hemant Kaduniya, Teaching Consultant, University College of Commerce and Management Studies, MLSU, Udaipur delivered a lecture on GST. He explained the history, components, advantages, disadvantages of this new system of taxation in India. The staff and students found it very informative.

Online School Allotment For Internship (First Year B.Ed.), February 8, 2018

With the online school allotment process (second phase) starting on February 5 at the Rajasthan Government portal, we shared all the reporting formats, and papers, to be handed over to school authorities, to our first year B.Ed. students on February 8. They were instructed to join their respective schools on or before February 14th. All the students have joined the program at the allotted school and the staff is now maintaining close contact with them through what's app groups and updating the college records with respect to internship program.

Kalidasa Jayanti celebrated on November 19, 2018

A brief program was held in the morning assembly on November 19, 2018, in remembrance of the great classical Sanskrit writer, poet, dramatist, Kalidasa. Students presented an introduction to his life and notable works such as, Abhijnanasakuntalam, Meghdoota, Kumarasambhavam, Malavikagnimitram, etc. First year B.Ed. student Suman Kunwar presented a Sanskrit song "Jane Jane iti geet". Sonal from D.El.Ed. first year compered the program while Ms.Durga Kumawat, Sanskrit Lecturer, presented the vote of thanks.

Hindi Dictation Competition for B.Ed. Students, August 1, 2017

One language skill with practical applications in day to day life is learning to take dictation. It also helps in understanding the correlation between the spelling system and sound system of a language. 37 Students of B.Ed. First Year and Second Year participated in the event. 100 words were dictated. Students enjoyed the activity as it was held on the first day of the new session and it was both motivating and challenging.

Poetry Competition, October 27, 2017

As part of literary activities, a poetry competition was held at the college in which B.Ed. Ist and IInd year students participated. Students presented poems on topics such as, motherland, hard work, Maharana Pratap, etc. Dr.Ashok Srivastav presided over and Dr.Tara and Dr.Kaneez were the judges. The program was conducted by a student Dinesh Kumar Balai. Giriraj Singh stood first, Khuswant Meghwal stood second while Neelam Joshi secured the third place.

Participation in 9th Rang Malhaar Camp

Takhman – 28, art and cultural centre, Udaipur organized 9th Rang Malhaar camp on 15th July 18. Dr Mohan Lal Jat, Lecturer fine arts and Chandrika Parmar (B.Ed Ist yr) VBGIES enthusiastically participated and presented their exquisite art in the camp 75 artists around the world expressed and presented their art with a colored lantern.

A Lecture on Road Safety, Youth and Public Policy, November 15, 2017

The extension department of VBGIES organised a lecture on the subject of road safety. Dr.M.L.Rawat, RTO, Udaipur conducted this lively and interactive session with the students. He discussed road safety rules and efforts made by the government to assist the public at large. Dr.Suraj Jacob, CEO, Vidya Bhawan Society presided over. Mrs.Aruna Mathur compered while Dr.Kanwaraj Suthar gave the vote of thanks.

Commemoration of Hiroshima Day

Mr. Uday Mehta, Prof., C T University, New York addressing students of V B Sr Sec School Ramgiri on Hiroshima day, insisted to practice tolerance and peace in day to day life activities. He said that Knowledge without morality can be disastrous. Mr. Ajay Mehta, President, V B Society released the annual reports of fifty years of GPF Newsletter- "Quest for peace and nonviolence- A journey of fifty years". .

D.El.Ed. Second Year (2016-17) Criticism and Final Lessons October 23-24, 2018

The criticism and final lessons for the previous batch was organised during October, 2018. The staff provided guidance to these students so that they could present well. Ms.Neha Murdia coordinated the program.

Workshops for Untrained Inservice Teachers

The 200 NIOS-D.El.Ed. open and distance learning program participants from government and non-government schools of Kotra, Sarada and Gogunda who participated in the contact program held at VBGIES during January 23-February 7, 2018, returned back from the field this month. They completed their field assignments allotted to them individually through the NIOS web portal. These assignments were evaluated by VBGIES resource persons. Workshops were conducted for them during May 11-23, 2018, at the institute. The objective was to explain and discuss lesson planning, blue print and preparation of teaching learning material. Also, to answer their queries on assignments, learn about their field experiences, help them reflect on the subject teaching related challenges faced by them and how they could be met with. On May 19, they were taken for an educational trip to Vidya Bhawan Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK-farm science centre), Badgaon, Udaipur. The KVK staff demonstrated and discussed how various agriculture and allied activities are carried out. The teachers were happy to learn about models of sustainable technologies which can be used at village level. On the same day, Dr.Anil Jain, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Education, Vardhaman Mahaveer Kota Open University, Kota, visited VBGIES for monitoring of the NIOS program. He held discussions with the resource persons, observed the workshop process, the group work, checked the quality of the teaching learning material prepared by the participants and checked their the sessional diaries. He took feedback from them about the program and its implementation. Dr.Poonam Dave and Dr. Bhagwati Ahir, coordinated this effort with support from all the academic staff members of VBGIES.

VBGIES faculty members visited an exhibition held at VB Polytechnic College on "Smart City Project." various miniature models of major projects like smart garbage management system, structure of Udaipur Municipal Corporation, cross section of toilet with septic tank, smart arduino based charging system, med prescribe app, smart India-Digital India etc wide ranging innovative models were displayed.

Closing Ceremony and Feedback of NIOS, February 7, 2018

The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has a national and international network with more than 15 Regional Centres, 2 Sub-Centres and about 5,000 study centres for its Academic and Vocational Programme within and outside the country. VBGIES has been selected as a study centre for the D.El.Ed. program of NIOS for the period 2018-20. This program has been developed by NIOS Academic Department, on the initiative of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, keeping in view the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2005, Right to Education Act 2009 and National Curriculum Framework for Teacher Education (NCFTE) 2010. The aim isto develop the skills, competencies, attitudes and understanding of the enrolled untrained elementary government and private school teachers and in turn make teaching and learning more effective. The first contact program for Inservice untrained primary and upper primary school teachers was conducted during January 23-February 7, 2018. On February 7, a feedback session was held. Shri Ajay Mehta, President, Vidya Bhawan Society, and Dr.Suraj Jacob, CEO, VBS, presided over. All the participants as well as the staff members were given an opportunity to share their experiences of the program.

A Talk on Philosophical Maharishi Aurbindo, February 27, 2018

Shri Aurobindo emphasized that education should be in accordance with the needs of our real modern life. On February 27, the eminent educationists Prof.D.N.Dani, Ex-Vice Principal, VB Govindram Seksaria Teachers' Training College, Udaipur and Dr. Jagdish Chandra Vyas, Retired Government School Principal, both active members of the Aurobindo Society discussed the life and philosophical contributions of Shri Aurobindo with the staff and students. Dr. Bhagwati Ahir Principal, introduced and welcomed the guests. Dr. Vyas discussed the contribution of Aurobindo and Shri Maa to Indian philosophy. Prof.Dani discussed the educational thought from a holistic perspective. He shared teachers' role as a facilitator, conducive environment creator. He discussed the need and importance of life long learning for creating a learning society and thinking citizens. Dr. Kanwraj Suthar conducted the program and Dr.Tara Kumawat offered the vote of thanks.

Academic Planning Workshops and Academic Advisory Council Meeting

The external environment in which Vidya Bhawan Society works is changing and evolving rapidly. The Academic Advisory Council (AAC) meets from time to time to discuss the strategic plans of all VB institutions. The idea is to discuss and align the vision, mission, priorities, resources, infrastructure, and services and be better prepared to face challenges. The AAC met for five days during May 9-12, 2018, and May 21 at the Education Resource Centre, Vidya Bhawan Society. The heads and senior members of each institution shared the academic plans of their institutions for the 2018-19 session. The focus was on three aspects of governance: organisational structure, internal communication and monitoring processes and personnel. In workshop mode, suggestions were given and these were incorporated. Dr.Bhagwati Ahir presented the plan for VBGIES. In preparation for these meetings, the principal and staff discussed the academic plan for 2018-19 at the institute.

Maintaining Quality and Standards

 The faculty members discussed issues such as developing a culture of inclusion in the institute, Equitable and Sustainable Development, Role of Community Knowledge in Education and ICT in schools and E- Learning in a staff meeting organized on 18/8/2015 for Maintaining Quality and Standards.

Guidance for Practical Exam Preparation July 22-August 3, 2017

A week before the University Practical Exams, the staff provided dedicated guidance to the students to help them prepare for their practical exams in the two pedagogy subjects chosen by them. This included discussion on lesson topics, objectives, teaching methods, strategies, teaching aids/props to be used and presenting the lesson effectively with confidence.

State Level Convention, February 2-3, 2018

Dr. Bhagwati Ahir, Dr.Sarita Jain and Ms.Nirmala Sharma from VBGIES participated in the inaugural sessions of a state level convention of youth writers organised by and held at the Rajasthan Sahitya Akademy, Udaipur. The Chief Guest was well known Social Worker Praveen Ratalia and the Special Guest was Surendra D.Soni. The program was presided over by the President of Rajasthan Sahitya Akademi, Dr.Indushekhar Tatpurush. In his inaugural address, discussing the present literary scenario and work of youth writers, Professor Madhav Hada expressed his concern that the writers are losing focus. He stressed that people always remember that work which is based on the writers' inner voice and sense experience. The session was moderated by Gaurikant Sharma and conducted by Chetan Audichiya. The first session focused on the Contemporary Poetry of Rajasthan. Speaker Sawai Singh Shekhwat stressed on need to write poetry based on emotions rather than thoughts and explained skills of writing such poetry. Papers were presented by young poets on the subject. The poetry reading session was conducted by Dr.Kundan Acharya. Youth writers shared their work. Dr.Kundan Mali chaired the second session which focused on Contemporary Stories of Rajasthan. Ms.Vimla Mahariya conducted the session. Two writers presented their papers on the subject after which, youth writers did story reading. The computer practicals were conducted for B.Ed. students in two batches during February 2-7, and February 9-14, 2018, respectively at the computer laboratory. This paper is part of internal evaluation in the B.Ed. program. The classes were conducted by Ms.Mamta Shrimali.

Mimicry Competition, February 24, 2018

As part of the cultural activities of the institute, a mimicry competition was held for D.El.Ed. First and Second Year students. Students impersonated politicians, popular film and television artists and entertained the audience. Dr.Sarita Jain and Mr.Yateen Chaubisa were the judges. Archana Menaria stood first, Kishan Meghwal stood second and Neeru Naik stood third. Dr.Kaneez Fatma delivered the vote of thanks.

Commemoration Day of Late Shri Jagat Singh Mehta Sb.

A group discussion was organized in fond remembrance of the birth anniversary of Late Shri Jagat Singh Mehta Sb., former foreign minister govt. of India and president VBS. On this memorable day, an interaction on "we and our city – a local responsibility" held on 17th July 18. Five groups were formed having mentors, D.El.Ed, B.Ed and Basic School Students. Each group shared their views regarding sanitation problem, electricity and water supply problem, garbage management system at local level. Mentors focused on their responsibility towards society and their contribution and assistance towards solution to these problems. Suggestions and remedial measures for improvement were suggested at local level for citizen's president VBS Dr. Ajay Singh Mehta Sb. shared incredible contribution and role of Vidhya Bhawan towards our society. CEO Suraj Jacob sir initiated helmet awareness amongst VBGIES employees. Discussion on Peace to commemorate Nagasaki Day, August 9, 2017

An interactive session was held among the staff and students of the B.Ed. course, D.El.Ed course and Senior Secondary School to discuss some aspects related to peace such as, meaning of peace, what brings/gives peace, the attitudes/words/feelings associated with peace, best way of bringing about peace and individual role in peace building. Shri Riaz Tehsin, Former President, Vidya Bhawan Society was the resource person and Dr.Suraj Jacob, CEO, Vidya Bhawan, presided over. Shri Tehsin emphasized that we should not forget that Gandhiji's path of non violence gave results in the form of independence. Dr.Jacob stressed on the need to understand the link between social justice and peace.

86th Foundation Day Celebrations at Prakriti Sadhana Kendra, July 21, 2017

VBGIES staff participated in a lively prayer and cultural program held to celebrate the VBS Foundation Day. It was hosted by VB Senior Secondary School. Shri Mangi Lal Verma, Additional Chief Engineer (PWD), Udaipur Zone was the chief guest. The event concluded with tree plantation, trekking and staff lunch.

D.El.Ed. First Year (2017-18) Final Viva, October 23-24, 2018

The final viva for the earlier batch was conducted during October. All staff members guided the students subject wise. Ms.Neha Murdia coordinated the program.

B.Ed. Second Year Mid-term Examination, May 14-19, 2018

Looking to the University final examination date (May 25), the mid-term examinations for B.Ed. second year students (2016-18) were conducted in two shifts per day during May 14-19, 2018.

Sports and Athletics Meet: 21-22 February 2015

Student-teachers actively participated in the two days' Sports and Athletic events held on 21-22 February 2015. They did Shramdaan to clean the playground and prepared tracks and did markings for the athletic events. The events included races (100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters), relay race of 4x100 meters, throws (shot-put, javelin and discus) and tug of war.

Nature Society stood first with 49 points, Governance Society second with 43 points, Community Society third with 24 points and Livelihood Society scored 19 points and came fourth.

Best Athletes (Girls) were Shewta Vyas, Manisha Kunwar and Pooja Damore and Pooja Prajapati who stood first, second and third respectively. Best Athletes (Boys) were Bherulal Bhati at first position, Harvinder Singh at second position and Jeetendra Dangi and Pawan Naniwal at third position.

National Workshop on Application of Research Methodology in Social Sciences, November 27-28, 2018

A two days workshop was organised at VBGIES on research methodology. Over 60 participants from various Teacher Training Colleges of Udaipur participated. Eminent educationists Prof.A.B.Phatak, Prof.D.N.Dani, Prof.M.P.Sharma, Prof.Divyaprabha Nagar, and the renowned social science subject research expert Dr.T.M.Dak were the resource persons. The participants were divided in groups and were guided on how to develop research proposals; self made tools, and conduct objective and meaningful research. Dr.Kanwraj Suthar and Dr.Mohan Jat coordinated the workshop. Shri Ajay Mehta, President, VBS and Dr.Suraj Jacob, CEO, presided over in the closing ceremony. Dr.Bhagwati Ahir presented the vote of thanks.

Climate Change Special Science Express Visit

The science students and faculty members visited “Climate Change Special Science Express Train” by the Science and Technology Department of MHRD. The students observed various models and experiments on global warming, climate change, environmental pollution control, water harvesting and mitigating climate change in its various coaches.

Vidya Bhawan Staff Badminton Sports Event, May 9, 2018

As part of the staff Badminton matches organised by the VB Sports Board, Shri M.S.Khatri, our Physical Training Instructor played a match with Shri R.L. Shrimal, Coordinator, VB Prakriti Sadhana Kendra, in the finals. Shri Shrimal won (21-20). A close contest between the two senior citizens indeed!

Rangoli Competition, February 2, 2018

On February 2, one could see the beauty of colors spread out in the corridors of the building and feel auspiciousness in the air when students of B.Ed. and D.El.Ed. participated in a Rangoli competition. They made Rangolis on various themes, in geometrical patterns, and in a variety of colors in teams of two. Reena and Prachi stood first, Gunjan and Silviya stood second, Prakash and Yashwant stood third from B.Ed. respectively whereas, in D.El.Ed. students Motilal and Geeta; Prakash and Shivangi were declared joint winners at the first position, and Premlata and Geti took second place. The in-service teachers of the Diploma in Elementary Education program (distance mode) NIOS who were attending the contact classes at VBGIES during these dates also appreciated the effort. The Principal, Dr. Bhagwati Ahir, motivated and encouraged the participants. Ms.Tripti Rathore and Ms.Archana Singh were the judges. The event was coordinated and conducted by Dr.Kaneez Fatma and Ms.Neha Murdia.

Gandhi Shastri Jayanti Celebration September 24-October 16, 2018

a) Shramdaan at VBGIES, September 26, 2018 The staff and students gathered and conducted a campus cleaning drive on September 26.
b) Interaction with students of VB Senior Secondary School Students (classes 1-5), held on September 28, 2018 The Governance Society and Livelihood Society D.El.Ed. and B.Ed. students and staff facilitated games such as musical chairs, animal voices, balloon race, in and out, ball in the bucket, lemon race, etc. for primary school students between 10 am-11.30 am. The Chief Guest, Shri E.H.Qazi, Principal, VBSSS, distributed the prizes to the winners. Chocolates were distributed to all the students. Ms. Aruna Mathur and Dr. Kaneez Fatma coordinated the program.
c) Interaction with students Vidya Bhawan Senior Secondary School, Dewali, October 1, 2018 Short films on Gandhian values such as honesty, truth, non violence, cleanliness, respect for elders, etc. were screened for school students at VBSSS. Following this, discussions were held on the films. Games were organized and class 5 students made paintings on Gandhian themes. The Principal, Shri Pushpraj Singh and Ms.Renu Jadav presided over the program. It was coordinated by Ms.Mamta Shrimali and Ms.Sonika Rathore. Dr.Bhagwati Ahir offered the vote of thanks.
d) Panel Discussion "Gandhi's NaiTalim and Education" at VBGSTC, October 2, 2018 The VBGIES team members attended a panel discussion on the principle of Nai Talim which states that knowledge and work are not separate. The speakers were, Shri Riaz Tehsin, Former President, Vidya Bhawan Society, Professor Parmendra Dashora, Former Vice Chancellor, Vardhaman Mahaveer Kota Open University and Former Member, Rajasthan Public Service Commission, and Professor M.P.Sharma, Former Director and Principal, VBGSTC. The discussion focused on the need to develop self-sufficiency in all individuals and to redefine the role of the teacher in the 21st century. Dr. Arvind Ashiya from VBGSTC coordinated the discussion.
e) Rally and Lecture on the theme "Gandhi, Society and Cleanliness", October 4, 2018 As part of the Gandhi-Shastri Jayanti fortnight, a rally was conducted by the staff and students of VBGIES in the Manoharpura area of Badgaon, close to the institute premises. The objective was to create awareness amongst the community on the need for cleanliness and hygiene. Nukkad natak were presented by the students. Dr.Suraj Jacob, CEO, Vidya Bhawan and Mr. Zahid Mohammed, HR & Legal Head, VB, participated and encouraged the students. The event was widely covered by the print and electronic media. Following this a lecture was delivered by Dr.Jyotiraditya Singh Bhati, Zilla President, swachta prakalp, and Professor, B.N.University, Udaipur. He focused on role of cleanliness in our lives and role of teachers in promoting good citizenship. The program was coordinated by Dr.Kanwraj Suthar. Dr.Tara Kumawat offered the vote of thanks.
f) Blood Donation Talk and Camp, October 5, 2018 A talk on importance of blood donation was delivered by Dr.Madan Gopal Varshney, President, Bharat Vikas Parishad to the staff and students of VBGIES. Following this, 41 units of blood were donated willingly. The program was conducted by Dr.Priyanka Jain and Ms.Neha Murdia. Dr.Sushma Intodia welcomed the guests on behalf of the institute. g) Dan-Utsav (Donations) at Government Higher Secondary School, Thoor, Udaipur October 8, 2018 On October 8, the staff and students of VBGIES visited the Government Higher Secondary School and distributed books, stationery, chocolates, etc among the school students. Gandhi-Shastri Jayanti Celebration, October 2, 2017

The program held at VBGIES campus began with garlanding of Gandhiji's statue and lighting of lamp. Dr.Sugan Sharma, Principal, introduced the guest Dr.B.P.Bhatnagar, Former Vice Chancellor, JRN Vidyapeeth, Udaipur. Students of B.Ed. first year presented a bhajan. They joined with the second year students and performed a play. One student from D.El.Ed. program shared a note on the Gandhian philosophy in context of education. Other programs included, reading of excerpt from "Hind Swaraj", freedom song recital, and oath taking by all present. This celebration is an important routine every year which is a step towards building a culture of peace.

Practical Classes for B.Ed. First Year: February 2-7, 2018

The computer practicals were conducted for B.Ed. students in two batches during February 2-7, and February 9-14, 2018, respectively at the computer laboratory. This paper is part of internal evaluation in the B.Ed. program. The classes were conducted by Ms.Mamta Shrimali.

Breakfastat cinema is a Pune based consultancy agency that aims to use cinema as a medium to create opportunities for individuals and organisations to learn about themselves and the world around them. Shibangi Das Ex-HR Professional, Movie Critic, Writer, Journalist and Abhinav Kandarp, Movie Buff, Writer, Filmmaker, Trainer from the organisation visited VBGIES and interacted with staff and students to orient them on the subject. They screened a video and discussed how cinema could be used in education.

Poetry Recitation on Rabindranath Tagore Jayanti, May 7, 2018

The renowned scholar, poet, writer, novelist, playwright, Rabindranath Tagore, was born on May 7, 1861. To celebrate his contributions to Indian culture,a poetry recitation session was organised on his birth anniversary, at the VB Society office. Staff members from different VB institutions presented self composed poems or poems written by other poets. From VBGIES, Ms.Meena Kalra, Dr.Sarita Jain, Dr.Kaneez Fatma presented poetry. The Principal, Dr.Bhagwati Ahir also participated.

External Assessment of B.Ed IInd Yr Internship, 25th & 26th June 18

Evaluation (IInd Phase (16 wk)) internship program of B.Ed. IInd yr held on 25th & 26th June 18 viva-voce, PPT, group discussion, written test, presentation of internship work was conducted and coordinated under the supervision of Dr. Madhu Sharma (Reader), Nimbark B.Ed college, the principal Dr. Bhagwati Ahir, co-convener Dr. Priyanka Jain and evaluation department. Ninety five students were present out of ninety six weightage of external evaluation was 150 marks.

Plantation Program at VBGIES, 16 July 18

Extensive plantation program organized in VBGIES significant initiative were taken by VBS in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) towards environmental protection and to restore the eco-balance, VBS actively planned plantation program with a wide range of saplings. VBGIES employee enthusiastically participated. The program was a big success with the co-operation and support of Dr. Bhagwati Ahir, Dr. A.S. Jodha, program co-cordinator, KVK and all the staff members. Before plantation, campus cleaning was done. Various kinds of saplings were planted in VBGIES premises to eliminate the pollution. The motive is not just to plant the saplings but rear them as well with the responsibility of 2/3 plant under the supervision of each teaching and non-teaching staff and students. VBGIES employees ensured their nurture, protection and growth.

Drawing Competition, Sep. 4, 2018

To bring out the creativity and the artistic talents amongst students VBGIES organized a drawing competition on Sept. 4, 2018. The theme was "Teacher and Teaching" B.Ed and D.El.Ed students proved that they not only excel in academics but also shine in exhibiting their skills by their creative presentation the efforts of all the students were applaud able. Workshop on Value System in Student Teacher relationship: 16 February 2015

A one day workshop was organized on the value system in student teacher relationship at the College in collaboration with Secure Meters, Udaipur on 16 February 2015. Deliberations were held on understanding self esteem, indicators and assessment of self esteem, role of the teacher in building self esteem among students. The discussants observed that values of honesty, sincerity, personal integrity and discipline should be nurtured in relationship between students and teachers. The resource persons were Prof. Akhilesh Chakranarayan, former Vice Principal of Ferguson College, Ms. Shaila Chakranarayan, Lecturer, Ferguson College and Mr. Narendra Sharma, Advisor, Secure Meters.

Science Day celebration : 28 February 2015

The Nature Society of the College organized a Science Fair on 28 February 2015 for the students of class VI and VII of Vidya Bhawan Senior Secondary School, Ramgiri. In the joint assembly of both the institutions, the students discussed the relevance of celebrating Science Day. B.Ed. students learnt to organize quiz competition. They prepared charts and working models to be displayed in the science lab of the School. The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. Ashok Shrivastav of the College and Ms. Madhulika Kothari, Principal of the School. The models displayed were DNA structure, mineral extraction in mines, electricity generation through biogas and wind energy, electroplating, utilizing sunlight to illuminate dark spaces in house, 3-D models of molecules, drip irrigation, Janta Sheetak (an alternative of refrigerator), aquarium and cleaning of lake through boats.

Workshop on Ayad River Water Sampling, January 29-February 2, and February 8, 2018

Dr.Priyanka Chaudhry, our Chemistry Lecturer, participated in two events related to Ayad River Improvement at Udaipur. The first, was a workshop jointly organised by VB Polytechnic, Wolkem India Environment Laboratory and an eminent Australian toxicologist Mike Williams from the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), who are involved in the Ayad River Project at Udaipur. The participants collected water and mud samples from 10 river sites in the city which will be filtered and tested at CSIRO to check the presence of Demand of Oxygen-Chemically and Biologically (DO, CoD & BoD), Microbes etc. and their adverse effects on health. At the second event, Dr.Sayali Joshi, CEO, Shrishti Eco-Research Institute, Pune, with expertise in lab analysis, environmental analysis and monitoring, made a presentation on use of Eco technology (applied science) for waste water treatment. This included, biological processes involved in point (domestic/industrial) to non-point (River/lake), vertical filteration to horizontal filteration, etc. Ms.Aditi Mehta, Former Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Rajasthan and the present Chairperson Jheel Sanrakshan Samiti, Udaipur, chaired the session. Dr.Anil Mehta, Principal, VB Polytechnic, Dr.Bhagwati Ahir, Principal, VBGIES, representatives of the Jheel Sanrakshan Samiti, Udaipur Improvement Trust (UIT), Chief Engineers from Public Works Department, Government of Rajasthan, teachers, students and aware citizens also participated in the discussion actively.

Checking University November 29-December 3, 2018

The Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur (MLSU) declared November 26-December 3 as the dates for filling the exam forms for the B.Ed. university final examination. The staff members checked the forms of all 186 students (first and second year) for the subject choice and fee details before the details were sent to the university. Examination incharge rechecked them, online process was done by office.

Mehndi Competition, October 26, 2018, at VBGIES

A Mehndi (Henna) Competition was held on October 26, 2018, in which, 20 B.Ed.and D.El.Ed. participated. Dr.Archana Singh and Ms. Meena Kalra conducted the program. Judges were, Dr. Mohanlal Jat and Mr.Yateen Choubisa. Three D.El.Ed. students Payal Salvi, Sonal Meena and Kalawati Sen won the first, second and third positions respectively.

Cultural Evening 'Manthan', May 5, 2018

Vidya Bhawan Public School (VBPS) organised a cultural evening 'Manthan' in which students presented songs, dances and poetry before their parents and invited guests. From VBGIES, Ms.Aruna Mathur participated in the program. It was a delight to see the school band present different compositions before the audience.

Visit of a Canadian Architect and Sanskrit Scholar, January 12-13, 2018

Ms.Vanessa, a Canadian Architect and a Sanskrit Scholar visited our campus on January 12-13, 2018. She met the Principal, Dr.Bhagwati Ahir and other staff members and had discussions on Indian education, languages, culture, employment opportunities, etc. The group discussions were facilitated in Sanskrit, by Ms.Durga Kumawat, our Sanskrit lecturer. Vanessa observed the working of the institution and also participated in the Makar Sankranti celebrations being held at the campus. She was happy to learn about VB philosophy and culture and sharing her thoughts with the President, CEO and other representatives of Vidya Bhawan Society who were present on the occasion.

Meeting of Vidya Bhawan Language Club, February 1 and 17, 2018

The Principal, Dr.Bhagwati Ahir, and the Hindi, Sanskrit and English language lecturers from VBGIES, participated in meetings of the newly formed language club in the Vidya Bhawan Society on February 1 and 17. Language teachers from all institutions discussed the objectives, possible role of this group and the activities that can be taken up to promote languages within VB and community at large. A what's app group has also been initiated to share news, views and promote dialogue on issues related to teaching and learning of languages.

Workshop on Art in Education

A one day workshop “Art in Education” was held at the institute on April 23, 2016.Mr Shashikant Sharma, Senior teacher, Vidya Bhawan Senior Secondary School, Badgaon, Ramgiri. He explained the difference between Art, Udyog and Craft, types of pencils and colors,difference between chart and poster, difference between Rangoli, Alpana and Mandana, Block and Stencil Painting and Framing.

The Open Air Session Camp at Chittorgadh to study Inclusive Development

The Open Air Session Camp of the institute was organized at Chittorgadh on April 4-8, 2016.The theme was “A study of Ochari Village of Chittorgadh in terms of Inclusive Development”.The camp was inaugurated by Prof A L Jain, Former Principal, Post Graduate College, Chittorgadh. Shri Prassan Khemesera, IPS, Chittorgadh addresing students provided important information regarding recent developments and status of inclusion in Chittorgadh. The students conducted survey in Ochari Village and collected data. The students also visited Shree Sanwaliyaji Bahu- uddesiye Viklang Sewa Samiti, Chanderiya, Panchayat, Patwar Mandal, Kisan Sewa Center Knowledge Kendra, MehaNarega Dept, Irrigation Dept, KVK etc.and interviewd the officials. Shree Ajay Mehta, President, Vidya Bhawan Society and Shri SP Gaur, Organising Seretary, Vidya Bhawan Society visited the camp and inaugurated rally. The students performed Nukkad Natak on all inclusive development. The students presented colorful programs in camp fire and cultural program. Ms Geeta Devi Joshi, Ex Mayor Chittorgadh and Shri Prem Prakash Mundara, President Congress Committee Chittorgadh were the chief guests of the Cultural Program. ASER-2017 Findings Presentation, May 1, 2018

The Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) aims to provide reliable annual estimates of children’sschooling status and basic learning levels for each state and rural district in India. In 2017, the ASER 'Beyond Basics' survey was carried out in 28 districts of 24 states in India. About 2,000 volunteers from 35 partner institutions, visited more than 25,000 households in 1,641 villages, surveying more than 30,000 14 to 18 year olds in all. Vidya Bhawan Society partnered with ASER and assisted them in conducting the survey in interior villages of Udaipur district, Rajasthan. Students of both Vidya Bhawan Teachers' Training Colleges and Vidya Bhawan Rural Institute participated as volunteers and interviewed 1,071 youth in 920 households in 60 villages. The ASER Rajasthan team visited VBGIES on May 1 and presented the findings of the survey formally before the staff and students. A certificate of participation was awarded to the college which was received by the Principal, Dr.Bhagwati Ahir. Our lecturer Ms.Aruna Mathur, who coordinated the effort at VBGIES and represented Vidya Bhawan Society at the national release function at New Delhi, in January 2018, was also awarded a certificate.

Demonstration on Mobile Banking Application for Staff Members, February 24, 2018

ICICI iMobile is a Banking application which offers a host of banking and informational services to take care of customers' banking needs from smartphones. Mr.Naresh Menaria, Customer Service Officer from ICICI, Dewali, Udaipur, visited the institution and demonstrated its features to the staff, such as, checking balance in account, transacting, transferring accounts and funds, paying bills, placing service requests, etc.

Late Shri Devishankar Shrimali Intercollege Debate Competition at Mateshwari Teachers' Training College, November 17, 2018

The topic was "Vartman Shiksha Pranali mein Samanvit B.Ed. Pathyakram Ki Sarthakta" (Relevance of the Integrated B.Ed Curriculum in the Present System of Education. Shri Vishal Bansal, Inspector General of Police, Udaipur presided over and Professor (Dr.) Uma Shankar Sharma, the then Vice Chancellor, Rajasthan Agricultural University was the Chief Guest.Two B.Ed. First Year (2019-21) students, Usha Jingar and Pranali Prasad participated.

Final Lessons Presented: 26-27 September 2014

Students presented final lessons on 26-27 September 2014. They selected topics from their native environment; these included sanjhi formation, camel- the desert ship, quick recipes without burning sources of energy etc. Presentations were made through power-point and plays.

The Get together and Talent Search event

The Get Together and Talent Search Program were organized at the institute on 4 November 2015. Mr Ajay Mahta, President, VBS acquainted students about the objectives of Vidya Bhawan and the journey of ite development along with recent challenges. Dr Sugan Sharma, Principal of the institute oriented students about the objectives behind Get Together event. The students enjoyed playing sports and fun games and presented Plays and group dances. Prof Divya prabha Nagar and Prof M P Sharma insisted the creative energies of youth to be channelized to play productive role in society and nation.

Staff-Alumni Meeting, Get-Together and Lunch, May 31, 2018

A team that eats together stays together. In an effort to improve the work culture, boost morale and strengthen relationships, a contributory staff lunch was held on May 31, 2018. Members of the alumni were also invited for the event. Alumni activities proposed for 2018-19 were discussed at the preliminary level.

Celebration of Sanskrit Poet Magha's Jayanti, January 31, 2018

Maagh is known for his classical Sanskrit poetry Shishupala Vadha, which is drawn from Mahabharata. In order to remember the great work of Maagh and create awareness about his contribution to Sanskrit literature, a brief program was held on January 31, at VBGIES. After the prayer assembly, our D.El.Ed. student Naresh Bishnoi spoke about the life history and work of Maagh. Information regarding the celebration of Maagh Jayanti at his birth place in Jalore, Rajasthan, was also shared.

The Principal, senior teaching and administrative staff members had a meeting to discuss the statement of accounts of the institute. This was then presented before Dr.Suraj Jacob, CEO, Vidya Bhawan Society, and Mr. Akhilesh from the Accounts Department of VBS. The feedback will be incorporated in the next financial year.

Second Term and First Term Defaulters Examination D.El.Ed.

The second term examinations for the D.El.Ed. first year and second year students were held during May 14-24. Those students who could not answer the exams earlier were also given a chance to write again. Ms. Meena Kalra and Dr.Poonam Dave coordinated this activity.

Successful Completion of D.El.Ed Ist yr School internship Program (2017-18)

Twenty four days school internship program for D.El.Ed Ist yr ended. Students reported back to college and evaluation process begins on 16th July 18 by group mentors. Feedback letter, attendance letter, internship completion certificate and other relevant documents were verified.

Diwali Holidays October 9-22, 2017

University Practical Examination B.Ed. II Year (2016-17), September 21-22, 2017

The viva-voce for B.Ed. IInd year students (2016-17) batch was held in September. The students presented their practical work through power point presentations as well as their individual and group work files. The examiner panel consisted of three members-two internal and one university representative.

Participation at Sports Day, January 31, 2018

The Principal, VBGIES, Dr.Bhagwati Ahir, participated in the opening ceremony of the four day annual sports meet of VBSSS. Students were divided into Nalanda, Takshshila, Sarnath, Vikramshila and Vallagi teams. Ms. Madhulika Kothari, Principal, VBSSS, opened the sports meet after which the ceremonial parade, physical drills and exercises were conducted by students. Dr.Kuldeep Singh Jhala, Assistant Director, Physical Education and Sports, University College of Social Sciences and Humanities, Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur, was the Chief Guest. Dr,Suraj Jacob, CEO, VBS, presided over. On the first two days, the nursery and junior classes will compete whereas on the next two days the senior classes will participate and compete in sports events.

Midterm Examination B.Ed. First Year May 1-11, 2018

The mid term theory examinations for B.Ed. First Year students were held during May 1-11. This provided an opportunity for the students to prepare themselves before the university final exams. Remembering Gandhiji on Martyr Day, January 30, 2018

Gandhian Peace Foundation Centre at VBGIES organised a small ceremony in rememberence of the father of our nation, Gandhiji. Mr. Yateen Chaubisa and Ms.Aruna Mathur conducted the program. Garlands were offered to Gandhiji in a mark of respect. Kalpana Shrimali, student of B.Ed. First Year, shared thoughts on Martyr Day. At 11 am sharp, two minutes of silence was observed by all staff, students present on the campus. This was followed by a bhajan "Vaishnav Jan" by the students. Following this, the Extension Department of VBGIES organised a lecture on Gandhian Values and their relevance in present context for staff and students. It was delivered by Dr. Baludan Barhath, Assistant Professor (Political Science), Meera Girls College, Udaipur. Dr.Bhagwati Ahir presided over. Dr.Kanwar Raj Suthar conducted the program and Ms.Aruna Mathur delivered the vote of thanks. He discussed life of Gandhiji as a freedom fighter, political philosopher and as a thinker and how Gandhiji talked about sustainable development, human rights, responsibilities of citizens, good governance, consumerism, economic democracy, non violence, etc. much ahead of his times. He stressed that Gandhian thoughts and values will always be relevant because Gandhi was a world citizen. Staff and students of VBGIES, 200 students of National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) contact classes participated.

Deliberation on International World Peace Day

Under the joint aegis of Vidya Bahwan Society and GPF Center functional at the institute International world peace day was celebrated. A panel discussion was organized on the theme “Partnership for Peace: Dignity for All” in which participants were Mr. Riyaz Tehsin, former President VBS, Dr Satish Sharma, Forest Officer, Dr Gayatri Tiwari, Home Science College, and Ms Priyanka Singh, Seva mandir. The discussion was coordinated by Prof M P Sharma. A play “Bandaro ke Madari”was enacted by Natyansh theatre group. An exhibition was displayed showing the Journey of Vidya Bhawan and activities of GPF. .

Lecture Series on "History of Education in Colonial India" by Vardarajan Naraynan, December 11-14, 2018

The Azim Premji University (APU) Karnataka, believes that the qualities of competence, integrity and social commitment are necessary foundation for flourishing and a life of informed and ethical action. This mission requires the response to the questions like "what is good education?".
The university encourages questioning of established understandings and developing new perspectives based on rigorous research and dialogue. It encourages its faculty and students to explore and locate learning and research programs in a deep and nuanced understanding of India's political and cultural contexts and diversity.
One of the APU Faculty Members- Professor Vardarajan Narayanan, who teaches Philosophy of Education and History of Education to Under Graduate and Post Graduate Students at the School of Education, visited VB institutions with the objective of reviewing literature for his research project on "Teacher and Teacher Education in India".
Prof.Narayanan delivered a lecture series to staff members of both VB Teacher Training Colleges and shared his experiences of collecting and compiling over 275 text books and reference books (educational documents) of the colonial era between 1800s and 1920s. VBGIES staff participated with curiosity and enthusiasm. The lectures helped in understanding the histories of school education in the colonial period.

Participation in workshop

Ms Aruna Mathur of the institute participated in a one day workshop on “ISRO Portal Bhuvan and Bhuvan Panchayat – Collaborative effort of MLSU and Regional Remote Sensing Centre, ISRO, Jodhpur, Rajasthan” organized at MLSU on June 6, 2016. Ms Aruna also attended lecture on Promoting Innovation and Creativity in society by Mr. Rajendra Bhanawat, IAS, held at MLSU Seminar hall on May 27, 2016 and a lecture on “National Security Challenges in 21st Century” by Mr. Abhinav Pandya at FMS, MLSU on June 10, 2016.

Quiz Competition on Gandhi-Shastri, October 12, 2018

A quiz competition was held for students of VBGIES as part of weekly literary and cultural events on the above theme. Four students were taken from each of the four societies. The rules were explained to the participants. The program was conducted by the quiz master Ms.Meena Kalra. The team from Governance society (Suman, Monika, Bhera Ram, Dharmichand) were declared the winners. Ms.Durga Kumawat offered the vote of thanks.
Discussion with Senior Citizens on "Expectations of Society from Gandhian Values based Educational Institutions", October 16, 2018 The staff of VBGIES participated in an interesting discussion on the above topic with a group of senior citizens - Prof.A.B.Phatak, Shri Riaz Tehsin, Prof.Arun Chaturvedi, Prof.T.M.Dak, Prof.Ved Dan Sudhir, Prof.R.R.Singh, Shri Ashok Mathur, Shri Narendra Sharma, Shri E.H.Qazi - all who have been inspired by Gandhian values and have worked on these ideas at some time in their careers. Role of educational institutions in developing responsible and law abiding citizens was discussed at length. The program was coordinated by Ms.Nirmala Sharma, Dr.Sarita Jain. Dr.Tara Kumawat offered the vote of thanks.

International Conference on Teacher Education and Social Concerns, April 27-28, 2018

Lok Manya Tilak Teachers' Training College, Janardhan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth (Deemed university), Dabok, Udaipur, organised an international conference with the objective of sensitising the society especially, teacher educators towards social issues and concerns like gender, responsible citizenship, communal harmony, life skills, role of ICT in awareness generation, cultural sensitivity, etc. The organising committee included renowned educationists namely, Prof. A.B.Phatak, Prof. M.P. Sharma, Prof.D.N.Dani, Dr.Shashi Chittora, Dr.Saroj Garg, Dr. Archana Rathore. The Chief Guest, Prof. Saroj Yadav, Dean, National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), highlighted the role of education in all round development of an individual. She said education is facing a crisis in the present context of privatisation and globalisation. Good, dedicated teachers who are torch bearers for the society are now hard to find. Prof. Phatak expressed his concern over the increasing imbalance in mutual relations between nuclear power nations, unrest among youth, increasing crime, terrorism, etc. and discussed the role of teacher educators and teachers in the present context. The main speaker Prof. B.P. Bhardwaj said it is necessary to be prepared in terms of educational structure, resources, curriculum, teachers, before talking about inclusive education. The Vice Chancellor Prof.Sarangdevot threw light on how teachers impact the minds of pupils. Five staff members from VBGIES- Ms.Meena Kalra, Shri Hemant Trivedi, Dr.Sarita Jain, Ms.Nirmala Sharma, Shri Yatin Chaubisa presented papers at the conference on role of teacher educators in creating gender sensitivity, responsible citizenship, etc. The Principal, Dr.Bhagwati Ahir, also participated.

Participation in the Rajasthan Patrika Change Makers Badlav Program, May 31, 2018

On May 31, Rajasthan Patrika, Udaipur, organised a program "Swachh Kare Rajniti" in which women from all walks of life were invited for a group discussion on how to encourage and bring forward women in Indian politics and how to make it corruption free. Ms.Durga Kumawat participated in this program as part of the Samskrita Bharati women's forum.

Seminar on NAAC Awareness for Non-accredited Colleges: 1-2 March 2015

Dr Sugan Sharma, Principal and Ms. Kumud Purohit, Lecturer of the College participated in a two days seminar on 'NAAC Awareness for Non-accredited Colleges under the National Quality Renaissance Initiative (NQRI)' on 1-2 March 2015. The seminar was organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the Mohan Lal Sukhadia University (MLSU), Udaipur. The resource persons were Prof. K. Rama, Regional Coordinator for Northern Region (NAAC); Prof. B.C. Chhaparwal, former Chancellor, Devi Ahilya University, Indore; Prof B. P. Bhatnagar, former Chancellor, Rajasthan Vidyapeeth and Prof. Karunesh Saxena, Director, FMS, MLSU. Prof. K. Rama oriented the participants on transformational value of Quaity Assurance Framework. She suggested excellence to be developed as a habit and quality as a culture of an Institute. She presented a guideline on applying for NAAC accreditation and points to be considered while preparing self-study report to be submitted to NAAC. She also briefed the participants about the structure, functions and importance of IQAC. Prof. B.C. Chhaparwal discussed the criteria of assessment by NAAC and grading procedure. Prof. Karunesh Saxena drew examples from the presentation made to NAAC by the MLSU and highlighted the essentials of a presentation to the NAAC team.

National Seminar at Nimbark Teachers' Training College, January 28-29, 2018

A National Seminar was organised by Nimbark Teachers' Training College, Udaipur, on "Sanskrit Sahitya Mei Aapda Prabandhan Avam Shikshak Ki Bhoomika" on January 28-29, 2018. On the 28th, in the evening, a Kavi Sammelan was also held. Both the events were sponsored by the Rajasthan Sanskrit Academy Jaipur. Dr. Bhagwati Ahir and Dr.Sushma Intodia participated in the seminar as audience. Dr.Sarita Jain presented a paper "Gunatmak Karya Hetu Samudayak Sahbhagita Nitaant Avyashak"; Dr. Priyanka Jain presented a paper "Vedic Sahitya mein Aapda Prabandhan-Prakratik Aapda"; Ms.Archana Singh presented a paper "Bharatiya Sanskriti par Paashchatiya Sanskriti ki Aapda". Our Sanskrit Lecturer, Ms.Durga Kumawat chaired a session and presented a paper "Aapda Prabandhan Mein Nishnaat thei Hanuman" in the event which was attended by Representatives of the Education Department, MLSU, literature enthusiasts, poets, teacher educators, teachers, college students, and members of society at large.

Lecture on 'Self Esteem' and 'Imparting Values to Children' September 22-23, 2017

Realising the need and importance of focusing on the teacher-pupil relationships, and the education system as a whole, as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, Secure Metres Ltd. Udaipur has been working with teachers and students in both government and private schools and colleges of Udaipur. This lecture was one in the series of workshops organised so far.Dr.Ashok B.Chakranarayan, Former Vice Principal and Head of Department (Geology), Fergusson College, Pune, India and Shri Narendra Sharma, Secure Metres Ltd., Udaipur, India were the resource persons.

Participation in District level Science Fair: 17-19 September 2014

Students participated in the 47th district-level Science, Maths, Environment and Population Fair, which was organized at Vidya Bhawan Senior Secondary School, Ramgiri. 400 students of the 105 schools presented their models. The guests included Prof. S.N. Jafari of Science College, MLSU, former Director of SIERT Shri K.C. Maloo, District Education Officer Ms. Krishna Chouhan, Additional D.E.O. Ms. Hemlata Menariya.

The models constructed from waste and low cost material included energy conservation devices, safe transport system, electricity generation through hand grinder, disaster management in flood prone areas, waste management and road construction through Bitumen and waste plastic. The students learnt report writing and prepared a report of the fair.

A debate competition was organized on old-age home system. Institute's faculty member Dr. Sarita Jain was one of the judges. 82 students from schools across the district participated in the competition.


 

An Interaction with the VB Wellness Advisory Council Members, April 25, 2018

Everyday each of us faces stress in our personal and professional lives. At VB we are fortunate to have a wellness team which is available for counselling to staff and students to help them learn to make better choices, improve interpersonal skills, develop confidence and increase their personal and professional effectiveness. The wellness centre was initiated in July 2017 and the team is working relentlessly to improve the learning environment, bring back the foundational philosophy of VB, build relationships within the institution, provide mental support and improve communication. A meeting was held on April 25 wherein the wellness team members visited VBGIES to discuss their work and elicit support from our staff to take this mission of 'wellness' ahead. Four members volunteered to work with the team and apprise them with the issues and needs from VBGIES and implement the wellness team's ideas and programs in the institution from time to time.

Teaching Learning Material (TLM) Exhibition, November 15-19, 2018

The TLM prepared by the students during the Simulation Program in both their teaching subjects were displayed at an exhibition during November 15-19. The student teachers were allotted space in the college hall, subject wise where they arranged their charts and models. The exhibition was inaugurated by the Principal, Dr.Bhagwati Ahir. On November 16, 2018, the staff and students of the VB Senior Secondary School also visited the exhibition.

Administration of Cloze Test to D.El.Ed. and B.Ed. First Year Students, November 23, 2018

In an effort to assess the native and second language learning among the students, a Cloze test was administered. Students were given a passage with missing words and were asked to fill in the blanks with words that would best complete the given passage. Based on the result, an assessment was made on whether the students were able to understand the context and tone of the passage.

Orientation and Administration of Psychology Tests-Understanding the Self, November 20 and 23, 2017

About 70 B.Ed. II Year students participated in an orientation session conducted to discuss the Psychological Tests to be administered by them under Course-17: Understanding Self. This session was coordinated by Dr.Priyanka Jain and Dr.Kaneez Fatima and helped the students to understand aspects of self concept and self efficacy.

Inter college Essay Writing Competition

Under the joint aegis of Faculty of Education, Mohanlal Sukhadia University Udaipur, Hindu Adhyatam and Sewa Sangh and Vidya Bahwan Gandhian Institute of Educational Studies, Udiapur an Inter college essay writing competition was organized on May 13, 2016 at the institute. The topic of the essay was “The Ecosystem of Forests of Rajasthan and its Conservation”. Total 72 B Ed, M Ed and Ph D Students participated in the competition. Prof Sadhna Kothari, Dean, Faculty of Education, MLSU expressing her concern about the declining forest cover, said the topic of the essay is very relevant. The chief guest of the event Mr. Gunwant Singh Kothari, Akhil Bhartiya Sewa Sangh said that environment conservation, forest conservation, human values, respecting women is the present global challenges. Prof B P Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Pacific Univeristy melting of galaciers due to rise in temperature may lead to turning of rivers into seasonal drains. Prof I V Trivedi, Vice Chancellor, MLSU, Udaipur strresed upon taking steps for re-establishing ecological balance.

Makar Sankranti Celebration January 13, 2018

Vidya Bhawan Senior Secondary School, Ramgiri, organized a Volleyball match and a cultural program to celebrate the festival of Makar Sankranti at the campus. Colleagues from all VB institutions joined in the celebrations. Our staff and students also enjoyed the event. D.El.Ed. and B.Ed. students presented a skit in the program. Republic Day Celebration at Vidya Bhawan Rural Institute, January 26, 2018

The staff members joined colleagues from all VB institutions and celebrated the inception of Indian Constitution at Vidya Bhawan Rural Institute and celebrate the day it came into force. The program included, flag hoisting by Shri Ajay Mehta, President, VBS, speeches of the invitees, distribution of prizes to VB school students who excelled in sports and other events at the block, state and national levels, followed by refreshments.

On Dr Abdul Kalam Azad’s Jayanti, A slogan writing and poster making competition was organized for the students of the institute. The theme was India of Kalam’s dream. The judges of the event were Dr Mohan Jaat of VB STC and Ms Manju Shrimali of VB Sr Sec School, Ramgiri. Ms. Nikita Paliwal and Geeta Bhatt stood first in Slogan writing and poster making. Reetu Dewada, Jyoti Sharma and Jaya Dewada remained second.

GPF celebrates Saarabhai Jayanti and World Democracy Day

Ms Aruna Mathur and Mr Yateen Choubisa displayed a documentary to the students of Govt Girls UPS Thoor on World Democracy Day and discussed issues such as meaning of Democracy and Rights and Responsibilities of citizens. Mrs Aruna Mathur displayed and discussed reading material related to the life incidences and contributions of Vikram Sarabhai on the notice board of V B Sr Sec School for students. .

External Evaluation at Seva Mandir, January 25, 2018

Seva Mandir hosted a semester abroad for students of Department of International Environment and Development Studies (Noragric) at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU). The course, titled Development Challenges in Rural India, focused on issues of development, poverty, gender and political structure, notably in the context of India in general and Rajasthan and Udaipur in particular. It was conducted from January 02 – January 29, 2018 and was co-organized with IIM-Udaipur as its academic partner. This academic course was an elective for bachelor students in the field of development studies, with a field-based profile and will give10 ECTS (points in European Credit Transfer System). The course was attended by 21 students. Ms.Aruna Mathur from VBGIES was invited as an External Evaluator to assist in giving grades to the students based on their field work presentations and reports.

University Practical Examination, April 23-25, 2018

The computer practical examination and internship viva-voce for B.Ed. First Year students was held during April 23-24, 2018, at VBGIES. Students were divided in three groups. Their knowledge and understanding on various concepts related to Information and Communication Technology- Computer hardware, Software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, use of Internet, etc. were tested through viva-voce. Ms.Mamta Shrimali, Computer Instructor, conducted the computer examination. The school internship viva-voce was simultaneously conducted by all the group mentors. They checked the lesson diaries, field reports, observation records, all papers of the individual students and evaluated them. This program was planned by Dr.Kaneez Fatma and Ms.Nirmala Sharma and facilitated by all staff members.

Sanskrit Language Training Program, May 21-31, 2018

Samskrita Bharati (founded 1981) is a movement for the continuing protection, development and propagation of the Sanskritam language as well as the literature, tradition and the knowledge systems embedded in it. It is a non-profit organization comprising a large team of very dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers who take the knowledge of Sanskrit to all sections of society irrespective of race, gender, region, religion, caste, age etc. During May 21-31, the Chittorgarh Chapter of the organisation organised a 10 day free of cost training on Sanskrit language at Udaipur. Ms.Durga Kumawat participated in the training both as a resource and as a participant. Various activities such as, discussion, grammar practice, songs, language games, etc. were held.

Visit to "Apno Melo" organised by Sewa Mandir, November 11, 2017

Seva Mandir celebrated its 50th anniversary year with Aapno Melo (‘Our Fair’ in Mewari dialect). 1,500 villagers, staff from Seva Mandir and other pan-Indian NGOs, plus representatives of government, donors, corporate organizations came together to discuss how they could work together to build a humane and just society going forward.The staff and students of VBGIES visited the Mela which was officially opened by Shri Arjun Lal Meena, MP, Vidya Bhawan and Seva Mandir President Shri Ajay Mehta and CEO, Sewa Mandir, Ms. Priyanka Singh.

International Mother Language Day, February 21, 2018

Languages are the most powerful instruments of preserving and developing our culture and heritage. The International Mother Language Day is observed every year to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism. On February 21, Ms.Nirmala Sharma, Lecturer, Hindi, addressed the D.El.Ed. students and discussed the strategic importance of preserving our mother tongue.

NIOS-D.El.Ed. Training for the Un-trained In-Service Teachers January 24-February 2, 2018

The National Institute of Open Schooling (an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India), has developed and is implementing an elementary teacher training programme (Diploma) through Open & Distance Learning mode for untrained teachers teaching in elementary schools. The basic principles on which the programme is structured is based on the functions, a teacher is expected to perform at the elementary schools, such as the classroom processes, mobilizing the community, participation in the corporate life of the school, implementing the whole school development plan, etc. Being a study centre for NIOS, VBGIES composite unit staff members conducted contact classes for 200 distance learning students during January 23-February 7, 2018. Totally 16 out of 30 contact classes of 2.5 hours each were conducted till January 31, 2018.

Slogan Writing Competition-Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, January 20, 2018

As part of the literary activities at VBGIES, a slogan writing competition was held at the campus in which 24 D.El.Ed. students and 23 B.Ed. students participated. The event was chaired by Dr.Bhagwati Ahir and it was conducted by Ms.Durga Kumawat, Ms.Neha Murdia, Ms.Nirmala Sharma and Ms.Tripti Rathore. Gunjan Rao, Kiran Rao and Dinesh Bishnoi secured the first, second and third positions in B.Ed. whereas Jitendra Singh, Archana Menaria and Moti Suthar stood first, second and third from D.El.Ed. respectively.

It was a matter of great pleasure for our staff to participate in the inaugural program of the Education Department of the Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur. Prerak Prasang Competition, November 16, 2018

As part of the cultural and literary activities, a motivation speech competition was held.Participants were allotted three minutes each for the speech. They were judged on the basis of whether they presented extempore or by reading the material, the relevance of the subject chosen by them and their fluency. The first and second position winners were Mamta Suthar and Pawan Khushwaha (B.Ed. First Year); Yudhveer Singh and Bheraram (D.El.Ed) respectively.

Research Meeting at VBGIES, April 20, 2018

The well known educationist and our mentor Dr. D.N.Dani, visited VBGIES and conducted an interactive session with all staff members on "Research". The team discussed issues related to self made and standardised tools, hypothesis, operational definitions, types of errors, etc. with the expert.

A Visit to NBT Book Fair

The students and the faculty members of the institute visited the book fair organized under the joint venture of Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth University, Udaipur and National Book Trust, MHRD. Prominent authors, Mr. Shekhar Sarkar and Mr. Devendra Mewadi oriented students about essentials of good children story writing. 

Bal Mela on Children's Day : 15 November 2014

A 'Bal Mela' (children's fair) was organised to celebrate Children's Day on the birth anniversary of Pd. Jawaharlal Nehru, freedom fighter and first Prime Minister of India. Students of the Institute enjoyed participating in the Bal Mela, which was held at the Vidya Bhawan Senior Secondary School, Ramgiri. Students conducted morning assembly in the school. Faculty members and B.Ed. students presented songs and dances. They put up stalls of delicious cuisines. It was a learning experience to prepare in groups and sell their products. Students participated in games too.

Debate on two years curriculum for Teachers' Training: 14 November 2014

A debate was held on the topic “Two year curriculum is essential for teachers' training” on 14 November 2014 at the College. Jeetendra Vaishnav, Pawan Prajapati and Altaf Hussain were adjudged first, second and third respectively in favour of the subject while Prabha Rathod, Suresh Vishnoi and Pooja Joshi stood fist, second and third respectively speaking against making it a two year affair.


 

Paper Craft - Flower Making Demonstration, January 24, 2018

Mr.Nand Lal Kishore, a local art and craft person demonstrated the craft of paper cutting to students of the D.El.Ed. course (first year). He helped them make flowers and other decorative items by cutting single sheets of coloured paper. The students found the session quite engrossing.

Criticism Lesson-Practical Examination April 16-17, 2018

The criticism lessons help prepare the students for the B.Ed. Final lesson. The B.Ed. First Year students presented their criticism lessons during April 17-18, 2018. Feedback was provided to them to improve their performance in the final examination. The mentors also guided them on what kind of teaching aids/models can be prepared according to the content. The program was conducted by Ms.Nirmala Sharma. One prominent lesson which captured the attention of all was that on "Collage" presented by Silviya Bhatti of B.Ed. First Year.

Blue Print Construction Workshop for B.Ed. Students, October 3-4, 2018

Blue print acts as a guide in construction of question paper. It helps the teachers to link assessment to learning objectives. As part of the two year B.Ed. course the students are given an exposure to this concept in a workshop mode. The workshop was organised for first year B.Ed. students during October 3-4. On the first day, in four sessions, Dr.Bhagwati Ahir, Dr.Priyanka Jain, Ms.Nirmala Sharma, and Dr.Tara Kumawat oriented the students on the need and importance of blue print, it's structure, development of teaching-learning material, diagnostic and remedial teaching respectively. On the next day,the student teachers worked in groups and prepared blue print subject wise. They documented their work in individual files which was later evaluated by the teachers.

Nai Talim for Today and Tomorrow: An Interaction on September 20, 2017

Dr.Sujit and Ms.Pallavi from the Azim Premji University, Bangalore, visited VBGIES and interacted with the B.Ed. II Year students. They discussed the details of the course titled "Talim - for today and tomorrow" that they are teaching at APU. The course engages with Gandhi's vision of society at the outset to set a framework of education through productive work. The students shared their perspective on the possibilities of engaging with Nai Talim in education today.

The Mid Term, ICT, Art and Drama in Education Practical Examinations

The mid term examinations of the institute were held from May 16 to 30, 2016. The students were evaluated as per the new examination pattern of the two year B. Ed. Curriculum introduced from session 2015- 16. The practical for the course VIII Paper “Critical Understanding of ICT were conducted during April 25 to May 30, 2016. The students learnt about MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power-point and Internet etc and learnt to prepare Bio data, Calendar, Time table, mark sheets, statistical analysis and graphical presentation of data. The practical Examination and viva voce of the same were held on May 31 and June 1, 2016. The viva voce examination for the course VII paper “Art and Drama in Education” was held on May 31, 2016 and June 1, 2016. The criteria for the viva voce were the year round experiences gained by the students in theory and workshops organized at the institute.

Open Air VBGIES for B.Ed. and D.El.Ed. First Year Students January 12-15, 2019

The open air session for first year students was held in the second week of January. The theme this year was "A Study of Local Environment in the context of Gandhian Values". A two day orientation program was held before the camp. Students discussed the topic and prepared the survey questionnaires in respective society groups. The camp was inaugurated by Shri Kailash Sharma, Sarpanch, Badgaon. On the first day the student teachers went to the neighbourhood areas of Manoharpura, Badgaon, Ramgiri, for data collection. In the evening games were held. Silence hour was observed which the students appreciated. In the night session the camp committee meeting was held to discuss the problems. Every morning, prayer and meditation session was held. On the second day, Shri Gyan Prakash Soni delivered a lecture on "Water Conservation through Change in Diet" before the participants. He focused on conservation of natural resources. A camp fire was held in the evening in which folk songs, folk dances, skits, mimicry, etc was presented by the students. Shri Narendra Sharma was the Chief Guest and Shri Pradeep Meghwal was the special guest. On the third day, a rally was organised on the theme of "Health and Sanitation Awareness". Shri E.H.Qazi gave the start indication for the rally. Dr.Sushma Intodia, Camp Covenor, shared the information about the camp with the local community. Motivational Speaker, Devilal Garg, focused on positive thinking.
In groups, students analysed the data collected during the survey. In the evening a cultural program was held. Dr.Suraj Jacob, CEO was the Chief Guest. On the fourth day, an exhibition was held where information gathered in the survey was shared through charts. Staff, students, representatives from VB Society and school students visited the exhibition. Dr.Sushma Intodia shared that the camp helped in developing the values of discipline, voluntary work, team work, coordination, etc. In the cultural program, the support staff were invited as Chief Guests. The program ended with a vote of thanks by Mrs.Meena Kalra.

School Internship Orientation and Allotment of Sessional Assignments to D.El.Ed. and B.Ed.First Year (2018-19) Students, November 15-22, 2018

An orientation program was organised for first year D.El.Ed. and B.Ed. students to apprise them of the work they needed to do during their 24 days school internship (November 26-December 24, 2018). The staff discussed various aspects- morning assembly in schools and timetable, curricular and co-curricular activities, community work, formats for recording information and reporting used in government schools, role of school monitoring committee, government schemes and programs in schools, objectives of the internship, etc. Student teachers were also oriented on what was expected from them at the end of the internship. The related papers/reporting formats were discussed in detail. Ms.Nirmala Sharma and Dr.Priyanka Jain coordinated this orientation.

Solo Dance Competition, November 24, 2017

As part of cultural activities program, a solo dance competition was held at the college. Dr.Sugan Sharma, Principal, presided over. Faculty Dr. Priyanka Jain, Dr.Kaneez Fatima, Mrs.Nirmala Sharma were the judges. Our Music Lecturer, Mrs.Veena Lohar conducted the program. Students Sangeeta Ameta, Rina Suthar and Prachi Jain were the first, second and third prize winners respectively.

Dr.Mohan Sinha Mehta Birth Anniversary, April 19-20, 2018

Dr. Mohan Sinha Mehta was Founder President of Vidya Bhawan Society and Seva Mandir in Udaipur, Rajasthan. Dr. Mohan Sinha Mehta Memorial Trust (MSMMT) was founded on 18th June 1986 to suitably honour his memory. It organises dialogues and discussion on various educational, environmental and social issues and promotes voluntarism. This year on Dr. Mehta's birth date, the three organisations came together and organised a two day program to celebrate the 50th Year of Seva Mandir's Foundation. First, on April 19, 2018, the Mohan Sinha Mehta Memorial Lecture "India Abroad: Our Diversity and Our Neighbours" was held at the VB Auditorium, Dewali. Shri TCS Raghvan, Former High Commissioner of India to Pakistan, delivered the lecture. Shri Raghvan discussed the change in perspective with respect to international relations starting from the First World War till date. Sharing the example of the Indo-Pak partition he discussed how history plays an important role in the determining the relations between neighbouring countries. He pointed out, inspite of changing governments, there has been a certain continuity in the Indian foreign policy with respect to Pakistan. It has been guided by the understanding of the cultural, social, religious diversity and the values enshrined in the Indian Constitution. However he cautioned that in the changing context (of the global political scenario and its impact on South Asia and India), and in view of the growing political might of China, India's foreign policy should not be decided in isolation at the central level. Both, the nuances within the different states within India and the international scenario should be taken into consideration. With respect to India's relations with its bordering countries he said, the individual and marital relations between the citizens of the two countries, the social-cultural exchange, etc. have played a major role in giving a direction to the foreign policy. Dr.Bhagwati Ahir, Dr.Kanwar Raj Suthar and Ms.Aruna Mathur participated in the event from VBGIES. On the next day, (April 20) in the morning, a pushpanjali program (flower offerings and bhajans) was held at Dr.Mehta Murti Sthal (statue) in the Seva Mandir premises. In the evening, an exhibition marking Seva Mandir's 50 year journey was organised at the Vidya Bhawan Senior Secondary School, Dewali. This was followed by a musical performance by the well known band "Advaita" at the school amphitheatre. Staff members who participated in these events appreciated both the exhibition and the musical performance.

B.Ed Admission Open

In-house Brainstorming Sessions on Research, February 20-21, 2018

The importance of research is immeasurable and ever increasing. This month we made efforts to focus attention in this direction. On February 20-21, 2018, Dr.Suraj Jacob, CEO, Vidya Bhawan Society, facilitated sessions of two hours each, on 'Research' for the VBGIES team. Dr.Vinay Kathotia, a Mathematician from United Kingdom, who was visiting Vidya Bhawan institutions also participated. On the first day a discussion was held on the term 'research', the need/motivation for research, importance of research and its types, research in social sciences and education. The concept of 'sensible claim making', precision and generalisability as being important for claim making, models of research, were discussed in this context. Dr.Vinay discussed the validity and utility of research. On the second day, an article was shared with the team and the claims made in the article were marked individually and then discussed in the group. It is hoped that these In-house sessions will continue and contribute in capacity building.

Solo Song Competition: 26 September 2014

A Solo Song Competition was organized in the College. Ranu Meena and Ranjeet Morya secured first position, Pooja Prajapat second and Bhairavdutt Joshi third positions respectively.

Dyeing, Drawing, Mandana Workshop: 3-10 April 2014

To explore and promote the craft skills of students, a week-long work education workshop was organized from 3 to 10 April 2014. Three student-teachers facilitated as experts Ms. Deepika Mali acquainted students with Bandhej-dyeing process. Students learnt tying cloths with threads and binding knots according to designs and dyed tablecloths in groups. 

 Dr. Chandralekha Bharati and Ms. Sarita Bhatnagar of Vidya Bhawan Krishi Vigyan Kendra (VBKVK) conducted a two-days food-processing program. Students prepared jams (apple and papaya), squashes (amla, orange and rose) and pickles (mixed vegetable, bitter gourd, mango pickles). They also learnt about the nutritive value of these products and preservatives to be used at home. 

 Shri Bhanwarlal Prajapati took a session on the essentials of drawing and sketching. He explained the necessary steps and precautions while drawing including different tones of colours. Depiction of ones feelings and thoughts through Mandana, the local art reflecting Mewar's culture at various festive occasions, were presented by Ms. Deepika. Students made colourful mandanas on rectangular cloth pieces as wall-hangings. 

On 9 April, students were taken on an exposure visit to VBKVK. Dr. A.S. Jodha gave information about 'Chappan pumpkin', 'Juguni cucumber' varieties and La Tunnel technique. He also acquainted students with pre-seasonal crop yielding techniques which benefit the farmer. Students discussed issues faced at their farms such as survival of grafted mango variety, non-fruiting in lemon plant, top black Anthrax infection in mango, ladyfinger and papaya plants, unequal one sided ripening of papaya fruit etc. Mr. P.C. Bhatnagar guided the students during VBKVK dairy visit and provided information about various breeds of goat, cow and buffalo and their nutrition requirements for improved milk production. Students saw the mechanised milk extraction procedure and gobar gas plant. Dr. M.S. Rathod expressed concern over the declining number of vultures, he explained the reason which is consumption of animals treated with Oxytocin injections, being injected for increased milk yield, which permanently destroys their kidneys. Dr. Hakkimudin informed students about various types of modern agricultural equipments for ploughing, seed sowing and harvesting. Dr. V.K. Saini made the students aware about the importance of soil testing and soil treatment. 

On the last day of the workshop, students prepared bandanwars, and wall hangings from thermocol waste.










Orientation Program for School Internship B.Ed.II Year, November 13-18, 2017

The orientation program for IInd Phase 16 weeks internship to be completed by B.Ed. IInd Year Students was held at VBGIES. Various activities to be conducted by them (as per university syllabus) were explained in detail by the staff. Shri Mohan Meghwal, was invited to discuss various school related reports to be prepared by the students. The Convenor Dr.Sarita Jain explained the information, rules, process related to the internship. Dr.Sugan Sharma, Principal, discussed aspects of action research. Other staff members discussed the individual and group activities at length.

Kshamtalaya Foundation and Jatan Sansthan are offering the iDISCOVER Fellowship, a two year fellowship that will take place in the rural pockets of Kotra and Gogunda, Rajasthan.The fellowship aims to contribute to and build learning spaces that bring educational and social equity. A fellow will be placed in one school where he/she will directly impact grades 3, 4 and 5 by adopting their model and pedagogy. Mrs. Anjali Gupte from the Kshamtalaya spoke to the students about the iDiscover Fellowships and the modalities of applying for the same.

Launching Ceremony of Global Peace Initiative and a Lecture on Excellence in Performance Through Positive Attitude, April 19, 2018

The Health, Happiness and Senior Citizen Study Centre (University Sports Board), Mohan Lal Sukhadia University, Udaipur, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Dr. Binny Sareen, Regional Director, Global Peace Initiative, USA. Dr. Binny is a well known expert for spiritual enhancement subjects and Rajyoga meditation at various organizations and countries. On this occasion, Prof.J.P.Sharma, Vice Chancellor, MLSU said that peace initiatives will be taken all year round in the university and this will help in the physical, mental and spiritual development of the students. The Guest of Honour, Prof.Vijay Shrimali, Vice Chancellor, MDS University, Ajmer, applauded the efforts of MLSU and thanked the VC for providing an opportunity to the staff and students to be associated with this health, happiness and peace initiative. The Key Speaker Dr.Sareen stressed on the need to develop internal peace. Brother David, from Australia presented peace music. Dr.D.S. Chauhan, Incharge, Sports Board, MLSU, welcomed the participants, Dr.Naveen Nandwana conducted the program and Prof. Kalpana Jain, Prog. Coordinator, Head, Dept. Of Psychology, MLSU, offered the vote of thanks. The Principal, VBGIES, Dr.Bhagwati Ahir and seven staff members participated in the program. The PowerPoint presentation on how to strive for excellence was interesting. Exercises on peace conducted in the session were also participatory.

Animal Aid Talk, August 23, 2017

Animal Aid is a vital rescue centre hospital and sanctuary for injured and ill street animals in Udaipur, Rajasthan, India. They rescue thousands of hurt and sick animals each year and provide sanctuary to those who need life-long care. Shri Shailendra and Shri Rajkishore gave a talk before the B.Ed. students and screened a short film highlighting the importance of solid waste management and ban on plastic bags.

Visit the Airport, Udaipur, January 11, 2018

Staff, and students of D.El.Ed. and B.Ed. courses visited the airport to learn about the working and management. Dr.Tara Kumawat coordinated the visit. Students found it interesting to learn about the air traffic system and rules, method of measuring rainfall and temperature, the traditional and latest methods of measuring air pressure, details of the utility buildings such as control tower, hangar and terminal. They also got a glimpse of the air traffic control centre, passenger facilities and emergency services.

Participation in Seminars

Dr Ashok Shrivastav , Senior Faculty member of the institute actively participated in a two days workshop on "Crucial issues in two years B ED. Curriculum " organized by Faculty of Education, MLSU Udaipur, on 19th -20th September, 2015. He raised and discussed the various challenges and problems in execution of recently prepared university syllabus of two years. Issues related to new development and guidelines provided by NCF 2005 and NCFTE 2009 were also discussed. The faculty members, Dr. Ashok Shrivastav, Mr. Yateen Choubisa, Ms Aruna Mathur and Ms Kumud Purohit presented papers in a two days national Seminar on "Education and Gender Senstivity" organized by Rajasthan Mahila Teachers' Training college, Udaipur, on 2nd -3rd October, 2015. The faculty members participated in a two days national seminar on "Vartman Sheeksha : Veekalpo ki Talash" on 11 - 12 Sept, 2015 organized by All India Federation of Teachers Organization (AIFTO) at Nimbark Teachers College, Udaipur. The seminar was organized with the objective of seeking suggestions about the New National Education Policy 2015. The resource persons were Mr K. K. Sharma President, AIFTO, Mr Shivkishore Sandhya, Mr Om Prakash Dasora, Mr K C Malu, Dr S D Purohit, Mr Bhanwerlal Vyas, Mr Vasudev Shastri, Prof B P Bhatnagar, Ms Laxmi Ninama and Ms Rajkumari Bhargav. In this Seminar a book written by Mr. Rishiraj Tiwari "Vartman Sheeksha : Veekalpo ki Talash" was also released. The faculty members participated and presented papers in an ICSSR sponsored seminar “Aphelion Growth in Teacher Education” organized at Krishna Mahila Teachers College, Udaipur from 16 - 17 October, 2015. Ms Shushma Intodia presented paper on Constitutional Values and Kabir's thoughts in a UGC sponsored National Seminar on “Relevance of Kabir’s Thoughts in Contemporary Context” organized by Rajsrishi Tandan Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Allahabad University, Allahabad from 21 -22 November, 2015. .

Participation in CTE Workshops

Dr Kumud Purohit and Ms Tara Kumawat of the institute participated as resource persons in the CTE orientation workshops organized for senior Science and Social science teachers in the month of May June. The workshop sessions were on the themes such as “Low cost science teaching learning material preparation” , “ Kala Utsav and Vigyan Pradarshani”, and Cocurricular Activities”.

Students brought Laurels to College: 7-8 March 2014

Khushboo Sharma secured first position in the debate competition organized by Aravalli Teachers college on 7 March 2014 while speaking in favour of the topic 'Reservation on economic basis as an indicator of social development' and was awarded the running trophy. 

Gayatri Purohit secured first position in the solo dance competition organized by Aravalli Teachers college on 8 March 2014. More than 20 teachers' training colleges of MLSU had participated in the event. 

Khushboo Sharma was felicitated for securing third position in the order of merit of the Mohan Lal Sukhadia University for graduation in Arts faculty for the year 2013 by Shri Riaz Tehsin, President of Vidya Bhawan Society, on 26 January 2014 at Vidya Bhawan Rural Institute.

We were fortunate to have a special guest this month. Shri Chitta Ranjan Sadangi, who played an important role in the Chilka Andolan by raising awareness and organising the people against the Tata project in the early 90s as well as in the Narmada Bachao Andolan visited VBGIES and interacted with the student teachers on the subject "education and social movement".

Presentation on Action Udaipur: 3 November 2014

'Action Udaipur' team made a presentation at the College on the beautification of 80 sites in the city through public initiative on 3 November 2014. Ms. Anita Purohit acquainted the students with the objectives of the program which included promoting volunteerism, increasing citizen's participation and interaction with administration for making the city clean and green; and promotion through social media. The students were motivated to join the programme by following three simple steps.


 

Lecture on How to Conduct a Case Study: 11 March 2014

An Extension lecture on 'The Essentials of a Case Study' was organized on 11 March 2014. Dr. Ajay Choudhary, Dept. of Psychology, Govt. Meera Girls College, explained the importance of case study as a scientific method in understanding individuals and their behavioral traits. He suggested clarity of objective, rapport establishment, need-based framing of questions instead of a fixed format, listening with understanding and patience, good communication skills, avoiding prejudices and biases, careful observation, recording and analysis, not imposing your opinion and reaching the solution through the subject as necessary components of a case study.



Fancy Dress Competition, January 8, 2018

A fancy dress competition was held for the D.El.Ed. and B.Ed. students. The program was chaired by Principal Dr.Bhagwati Ahir. It was conducted by Ms.Veena Lohar, while Ms.Meena Kalra and Ms.Poonam Dave were the judges. The first, second and third prize were won by Geni, Jeeva Ram and Vaja Ram, and Lachhi. Kalpana Shrimali was given the consolation prize. Dr.Kaneez Fatma gave the vote of thanks.

Lecture on Essentials of Communication, November 23, 2017

As part of Extension activities, Ms.Payal Pitliya, Independent Consultant(Human Resources), guest faculty at IIM Udaipur and a certified NLP, MBTI and EUM practitioner, was invited to speak to the students. She discussed the process of communication, barriers to communication, role of conditioning/self belief in the process, active listening, using interesting stories, videos and through actual demonstration.

Gandhi Jayanti Celebrated: 2 October 2014

The Annual Gandhi Memorial Lecture was organized on 'Hind Swaraj and the Concept of Educaton'. Eminent poet and litterateur Prof. Nand Chaturvedi presented an analysis of Gandhi’s Hind Swaraj in terms of work and education. Self-analysis and practice of non-violence strengthens an individual. True education liberates the learner. Gandhi experimented throughout his life exploring the meaning of truth. According to Gandhi, the nature of truth is changeable; and modernity means that which can be proved through logic. Prof. Chaturvedi defined a good teacher as one who understands the harmony between knowledge and work and instills in his pupil the spirit of sarvoday for an overall and inclusive development of society and self.

Vidya Bhawan Gandhian Institute of Educational Studies and Vidya Bhawan Gandhi Peace Foundation Center jointly organised an inter-colligate Essay Writing Competition on 'Gandhi ke Sarvodaya ki Samkalpana awam uska vyavharic Swaroop'. Vishal Lohar of Maharaja Arts and Education College secured first position,Vijay Joshi of Vidya Bhawan G.S.T.C. was second and Shilpa Cheepa of Rajdev T.T. College and Ramesh Kumar of Mantram T.T. Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on Shaheed Diwas: 30 January 2014

Mahatma Gandhi, Father of the Nation, was remembered on Shaheed Diwas, 30 January 2014. The student-teachers prepared a Wall-Magazine on the principles and inspiring acts of Gandhi ji. The Wall-magazine was released by Shri S.P. Gaur, Organizing Secretary, Vidya Bhawan Society and Prof. M.P. Sharma, Director and Dr. Sugan Sharma, Principal of VBGIES. Tributes were paid to the Mahatma in a commemorative meeting held at the College. Dr. Veddan Sudhir, former Director of VBRI, highlighted the necessity of critically study Gandhi as a world figure rather than praising him as an idol. He remembered Gandhi as a leader who made the struggle for freedom a people's movement. Eminent Gandhian Shri Kishor Saint emphasised the need for greater understanding of Gandhian thoughts and constructive programmes in the modern context.

The Practice Teaching program was executed in the neighbouring Badgaon, Thoor, Kavita, Loyara and Chikalwas Secondary and Senior Secondary Schools from January 18, 2016 to February 15, 2016.The B Ed students trained the class XI Geography students in school campus survey through open and closed method in geography practicals. Apart from regular classroom teaching students also trained school students in Mandana Making, Quilling Art, Paper and Mud toy making. The students organized the Republic Day and Basant Panchmi Celebrations by helping students prepare for cultural programs, PT and Parade. A Gandhi Prathana Sabha was organized at Government Adarsh Senior Secondary School, Thoor on Saheed Diwas during which students sung Bhajan “Vaishnav Jaan To” and discussed their thoughts along with inspiring incidences from the life of Gandhi. Students of the institute Ms Jaya Dewada and Mr Dinesh Dhayan were awarded cash prize by Shree Arajun lal Meena, M P for providing right answers during a quiz on health, in a district level function of National Worm Day.

Celebration of Hindi Divas, September 14, 2017

Hindi Divas is celebrated on 14 September because on this day in 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India had adopted Hindi written in Devanagari script as the official language of the Republic of India. The staff and students participated in Hindi poetry recitation, skits, song recitation, and discussion and celebrated enthusiastically. Dr.Sugan Sharma, Principal, the audience reminded that Mahatma Gandhi believed that Hindi is the language of the masses. She stressed that although English is a global language, one should remain connected to one's mother tongue as well as Hindi.

Election Awareness Programme: 16-23 November 2013

To promote general awareness for voters' participation in elections, a week-long SWEEP programme was organized. Various activities, such as essay writing, slogan writing, poster making competitions, rally and human chain were arranged at Vidya Bhawan Gandhian Institute from 16-23 November 2013. 

Prof. Arun Chaturvedi, former HOD, Department of Political Science, MLSU, highlighted the importance and value of casting vote and the factors which should be given a thought for selecting a Member of Parliament (MP). The prospective teachers were motivated and took oath to caste vote and motivated others. 

An essay writing competition, titled “Overcoming the negligence towards casting of votes”, was organized. The result was as under:

Sixth Sports and Athletic Meet: 28-29 March 2014

A two-days Sports and Athletic meet was organized by the College on 28-29 March 2014. Dr. Sugan Sharma, Principal, declared commencement of the events and highlighted the importance of sports in the all round development of a person. Mr. Asit Kumar Ray, Coordinator of the Meet, informed the participants about the rules and regulations of races (100 meters, 200metres, 400metres, 4x100metres Relay race and Spoon Race), throws (Shot-put, Javelin and Discus) and tug-of-war.

Swadhyaya Street Play

Mr Lalit Choubisa, Secretary of the Alumni Association of the institute and his team from Swadhyaya family presented a play “Krishna made play divine” before the students and faculty of the institute. The play revealed the self centered society and self. Discussion thereafter made the students to reflect about the changing scenario and the responsibility of youth.

The 2016-17 batch answered their University Practical Examination in the first week of August. "From Our Vision to National and International Imperatives" - A Group Discussion in Rememberance of Late Shri Jagat Singh Mehta on his 95th Birth Anniversary, July 17, 2017

Late Shri Jagat Mehta, Former Foreign Secretary, Government of India was the son of Late Dr. Mohan Singh Mehta, founder of Vidya Bhavan Society and Sewa Mandir in Udaipur, Rajasthan. Jagatji firmly believed that in a democracy, public debate is important to understand people's opinions and expectations. He dreamt of a society where people are tolerant and respectful of differences. It is therefore not surprising that dialogue, that is inclusive of different points of view, has been an important part of Vidya Bhawan culture. The staff and students from B.Ed. and D.El.Ed. program as well as Sewa Mandir representatives and other guests discussed their understanding of the terms "personal and collective vision" "secularism" as well as their ideas on their own identities, whether identities affect our vision, whether and how vision can be anchored in practice, what the vision should be as a nation to deal with deeper human problems, role of education, etc.

Yoga Sessions for Students and Faculty: 12 March 2014

A session on Yoga was held on 12 March 2014 for students and faculty. Dr. V. L. Choubisa and Shri Omprakash Parikh of Gayatri Shaktipeeth, Haridwar along with four students of the Dept of Holisitic Care and Yoga Science of Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar conducted the session. An interactive session on education and wisdom, inculcating responsibility, honesty, courage and intelligence and Yoga for a healthy and balanced life was also held. The student instructors included Keerti Maurya, Nidhi Ruhela, Madhu Singh and Mahima Singh.




Orientation of Newcomers: 11 September 2014

Orientation programme for the newcomers was held on 11 September 2014. New admissions included 70 in arts, 20 science and 10 commerce students. Faculty members informed the students about the curricular and co-curricular activities which will be organised throughout the session. They also discussed the areas of interests of the students.

Simulated Teaching Practice Program November 1-18, 2017

The Simulated Teaching Practice program was organised for B.Ed. Ist year students in the first two weeks of November. They were divided in six groups and they planned and presented five lessons in both their teaching subjects each. They also learnt how to do peer observation. This provided them an opportunity to implement their learning from the micro teaching program and practice their skills in an integrated manner. Feedback was provided by supervisors individually. Dr.Sushma Intodia and Mrs.Aruna Mathur coordinated this program.

“The Orientation of Two Years B Ed Curriculum” MLSU Workshop

The faculty members of the institute Ms. Tara Kumawat, Ms Kumud Purohit, Ms Shushma Intodia, Ms Sarita Jain, Ms Aruna Mathur ans ms Mamta Shrimali participated in workshop organized by Faculty of Education, Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur and provided suggestions for modification in the curriculum.

Learning-by-Doing Teaching Programmes

Micro–Teaching: 3-11 October 2013 

Micro–teaching programme was conducted from 3 to 11 October 2013, in which B.Ed. students practiced pedagogical skills to develop their teaching–behavior. The programme help develop desirable teaching skills and competencies in the prospective teachers through the process of subjecting samples of human behavior to 5Rs on video tape– recording, reviewing, responding, refinding and redoing. 

Teaching Learning Material preparation Workshop: 14-15 October 2013 

A two-days' Teaching Learning Material (TLM) preparation workshop was organized on 14-15 October 2013, where students prepared various low cost models with wood, clay and plaster-of-paris. TLM helps the teachers to clarify, establish, correlate and coordinate concepts, interpretations and appreciations and enable them to make learning more interesting and meaningful. 

Simulated–Teaching: 23-25 October 2013 

Simulated–Teaching programme was organized from 23 to 25 October 2013 to develop and practice all the skills to be integrated in teaching. 

Practice–Teaching: November-December 2013 

Practice–teaching programme was conducted in two round– from 08 to 23 November 2013 and from 26 November to 10 December 2013 in the neighbouring Govt. Upper Primary, Secondary and Senior Secondary Schools of Badgaon, Loera, Madar, Brahmano ki Hundar, Neemuch Kheda, Pula, Brahmpole, Savina and Vidya Bhawan Sr. Sec. School at Ramgiri. The students did regular planning and organization of classroom teaching; and gave guidance on how to draw and fill maps and on the NOTA option in elections in Bal Sabha. These classroom experience sessions helped students in developing their confidence and clarity of content.

A Motivation Talk, October 28, 2017

Shri Dave from Achievers Classes spoke to the students about how to prepare for competitive exams in the areas of maths, reseasoning, mental ability, English, Science, etc. His examples on how to approach a given problem in any subject made his point easy to understand.

Lecture on Alternative Medicine-Naturopathy, January 8, 2018

Dr.Chail Bihari Sharma from Kanchan Sewa Sansthan, Udaipur, delivered a lecture on Naturopathy before the staff and students of VBGIES. He shared the ideology and methods of naturopathy and discussed how it promotes "self healing". Dr. Tara Kumawat participated in the inauguration of their new hospital at Bhatevar in Udaipur on January 21, 2018. Shri Vikram Chauhan and Dr.Khushi Haryana State President and Coordinator from the same organization visited our campus on January 23, 2018, to learn more about our work. They work with special children.

Gandhi- Shastri Jayanti Celebrations: 28 September - 2 October 2013

The anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri was celebrated at the Institute with enthusiasm in a week long programme. The activities included blood donation camp, intercollegiate poster making competition on 'water conservation' and an interaction with eminent Gandhians.

Blood Donation Camp: A Blood Donation Camp was organized jointly by Vidya Bhawan Gandhi Peace Foundation Center and Lokmitra Blood Bank on 28 September 2013 at the Institute. Students volunteered as donors and expressed their commitment to motivate others for blood donation to help the children suffering from Thellesimeia. The students and faculty of VBGIES and Vidya Bhawan Basic Senior Secondary School donated 21 units blood in the camp. The Director of the Lokmitra Blood Bank, Dr. Mahendra Shrimali informed that the Bank has distributed insurance policies worth rupees three thousand corers to the donors. Shri Yateen Kumar Choubisa of the Institute expressed gratitude towards the participants.

Intercollegiate Poster Making Competition on 'Water Conservation' : Students of 21 B.Ed. Colleges of Udaipur district participated in a Poster-making Competition on the subject of 'Water Conservation', which was organized on 1st October 2013 at the Institute. Prof. Hemant Dwivedi of the Visual Arts Department of MLSU and Ms. Sharmila Rathod, Director Art Gallery adjudged the winners. Non-violence for peaceful co-existence: Floral tributes were paid to Mahatma Gandhi and Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri on 2nd October 2013 at the Institute. Eminent Gandhian thinker Shri Kishore Saint said that love and non-violence practiced by Gandhiji are the guiding principles to instill faith in peaceful resolutions of conflicts around the world. Shri Riaz Tehsin, President of Vidya Bhawan Society, said that an inculcating non-violence, Swaraj and scientific temper can become the means of peaceful co-existence. The students of the Vidya Bhawan Basic Sr. Sec. School performed plays exhibiting three incidences from the life of Gandhi. The plays gave the message of honesty, use of resources for need and not for greed, and self-reliance. The guests felicitated the winners of the Poster-making Competition and the participants of the Blood Donation Camp.














Understanding the Importance of Blood Donation: 21 September 2013

Students got to know about importance of blood donation through an interaction by Dr. Mahendra Kumar Shrimali, Chairman, Lokmitra Blood Bank and Thellesimeia Research Center, Udaipur on 21st September 2013. Dr. Shrimali addressed B.Ed. students of the College and students of class XI and XII of Vidya Bhawan Basic Senior Secondary School students. He clarified misconceptions regarding blood donation and elaborated upon the positive effects on the donors. He also elucidated upon Thellesimeia and his efforts for the suffering children.

The National Workshop “Peace Education based on Gandhian Values

A two days National Workshop was organized at the institute with the objective of empowering teacher educaters as peace educaters. About 111 participants from differfent teacher training institutes participated in the workshop. The resource persons were Shree S Kulandisami, Secretary, Gandhi Peace Foundation center, Chennai and six other experts from Chennai GPF and Gujrat Vidyapeeth. The faculty members and students of the institute presented a breif account of life contributions of Dr Mohan Singh Mehta, Shree K L Shrimali, Shree K L Bordia, Shree Deen Dayal Dashottar Shree Dayal Chandra Soni. Shree Riyaz Tehsin, Former President, Vidya Bhawan Society and Shreemati Chandra Bhandari shared experiences of pratical applications of gandhian values at Vidya Bhawan. Shree Ajay Mehata, President, Vidya Bhawan Society presented the challenge of redefining gandhian principles in the present context. In the workshop Mr. Hakeen Ansari and Mr Sagar Dodhia of Gujarat presented the module of 51 stories writeen by Shree Kulandisami which have been published in”The Hindu Young World” The participants discussed on skits, plays and micro action plans for establishing peace.

Library Day

The birthday of Dr S R Rangnathan, Father of Library Science was celebrated as Library Day under the joint aegis of Vidya Bhawan and Sewa Mandir. The participants were the librarians, faculty and students of different institutes of both the institutions. The chief guest of the program was Ms Neelima Khetan. The speakers were Mr P S Rajput of Maharana Bhupal Science College, Udaipur and Dr Arvind of IIM, Udaipur. The essays and the posters of students on the theme “Library” and children literature were displayed.

Dr. Amarjeet Singh of MHRD visits Institute: 28 August 2013

Dr. Amarjeet Singh, Addl. Secretary, M.H.R.D., Govt. of India visited the Institute on 28th August 2013 and interacted with the faculty members. He appreciated the practices at the Institute and encouraged the faculty to function with such enthusiasm. Dr. Singh was of the view that the Gandhian philosophy of education and unique approach of Vidya Bhawan should be incorporated in the teacher education programme across the country..

School Internship Program for B.Ed. First and Second Year Students January-February 2018

The school internship is an important and compulsory program of the B.Ed. course. This year the State Government has decided the nature and modalities of this program from start to finish. Every student has been given the opportunity to select schools in their home district and complete the internship closer to their home. The idea is to provide them an exposure to the local issues and concerns. The state government conducted video conferences from time to time to give instructions in this regard. Schools for internship were allocated in two batches all over the state.The college was directed to send students in the second batch. The school allocation list for B.Ed. second year students was displayed online on January 3, 2018, whereas the list for B.Ed. first year students is expected to be up by February 5, 2018. The entire process of gathering student information and sending them was conducted online in three phases. In the first phase, the coordinators of this program in college uploaded detailed information related to students including their aadhaar details, subjects chosen for teaching etc. In the second phase, the home district and block information of students was gathered and uploaded. In the third phase information regarding the schools chosen by students (in order of their preference) was uploaded. Apart from this, the lesson plan diaries were prepared for both first and second year students. Directions/instructions were given to teachers and students through meetings/orientation programs as and when information was received during video conferences. Apart from this notes/instruction guides were prepared and shared with the school principals and mentor group, the mentors at college. The entire internship program related work was coordinated by the First Year Internship convenor Dr.Kaneez Fatma and Second Year Internship Convenor, Dr.Sarita Jain.

Mehndi Competition, October 7, 2017

A mehndi competition was held in first week of October in which 23 B.Ed. First Year and Second Year students participated. Sangeeta Ameta secured the first position while Santosh Vaishnav and Damini were declared and second and third winners. Dr. Mohanlal Jat and Dr.Kanwaraj Suthar were the judges. Dr.Sugan Sharma, Principal, presided over.

Work Education Practical : 9-10 April 2013

A work education workshop of Vidya Bhawan Gandhian Institute of Educational Studies was conducted on 09th and 10th April, 2013 in collaboration with Vidya Bhawan Polytechnic College, Vidya Bhawan Krishi Vigyan Kendra and Vidya Bhawan Cellulosic Waste Recycle unit.
The B.Ed. Students were divided in 4 groups. They learnt about different types of iron, wood and timber; defects of wood and how to protect wooden and iron articles from moisture; equipments and precautions during work. The student got a hands-on experience as they made wooden book & card holders for the college library and metal pen-holders under the supervision of Mr. Gorang Sharma.
Students enjoyed preparing Hand-made Paper products such as photo-frames, decorative envelopes, paper bags, file folders and paper jewelry products under the guidance of Mrs. Durga Meena. Mr. Rakesh Paliwal provided useful information regarding Paper Business and use of paper products.
Students got an opportunity to learn about the structure and functioning of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra. The students were briefed by experts of VBKVK on agriculture, horticulture, dairy, poultry, animal husbandry, home science, soil science (soil health testing and treatment) plant propagation and protection. The students prepared 20 ornamental potted plants for the beautification of the College.

Innovations in Teacher Education : 12-13 July 2013

Prof. Umesh VashishthaProf. Umesh Vashistha, Ex-Dean, Lucknow University and Ex-member, NCTE discussed various innovations related to the field of teacher education, which are being practiced in the country on 12th and 13th July, 2013. He also explored the possibilities of innovations at Vidya Bhawan through interaction with the faculty and Heads of the Institutions. He made a presentation on the Gandhian Model of higher education and a University of his dreams.

Demonstration Lessons for B.Ed. I Year Students October 5-6, 2017

Staff members prepared and presented Demonstration lessons in their Pedagogy subjects before the B.Ed. First Year Students. The lessons were presented using innovative methods such as use of songs, music, role play, video films, pictures, use of power point presentations, OHP, etc. Some topics were Importance of blood donation, power of conch, acid-base testing, national heritage centres-Pratap Gaurav Kendra, Indian Monsoon, etc. These lessons were video recorded so that teachers could themselves review their work and improve their teaching strategies. The program was coordinated by Dr.Priyanka Jain and Dr.Kanwaraj Suthar.

Workshop with Principals of Teacher Education Institutions : 2-4 April 2013

Prof. I V TrivediThe faculty members attended a three days workshop with Principals of teacher education institutions, organized by Vidya Bhawan G.S. Teachers College (CTE) and Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur from 2nd to 4th April, 2013. The workshop was an effort to initiate a dialogue on important teacher education issues such as challenges before teacher education, present scenario of higher education, professional development of teachers, NAAC accreditation procedure and preparation, soft skills, total quality management, leadership in education, innovations in teacher education and curriculum framework for teacher education. The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. I. V. Trivedi, Vice Chancellor, M.L.S.U.; Prof Kailesh Sodani, Dean Faculty Education, M.L.S.U.; Eminent Educationist Prof. A.B. Phatak and Shri Riaz Tehsin, President Vidya Bhawan Society.

The sessions were initiated by Prof. N.N. Pradhan, M.S. University, Baroda; Prof. M.P. Sharma, Prof. D.N. Dani, Dr. H.K. Deewan, Dr. Sanjay Lodha, Dr. L.M. Mantri, Dr. Seema Malik, Dr. Rajeshwari Narendren, Prof. Karunesh Sexena and Prof. Arun Chaturvedi. Dr. Prabha Vajpayee, Principal, R.M.V.Teachers College presented an outline of the current revised syllabus of B.Ed. Course.

College Get-together: 27 September 2013

A get-together of the College was organized on 27th September 2013. Principal Dr. Sugan Sharma highlighted the importance of community living. Dr. Ashok Shrivastav acquainted the students with the objectives of the program, which is to provide them with an opportunity to get familiar with each other and express their talents. Environmental Games were played by identifying the names of plants and their usage. The students presented songs, dances, poems and plays.

The Annual Sports and Athletic meet

Students participated with zeal and enthusiasm in the two days Annual Sports and Atheletic meet during which 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, and 4x100 meters rellay races were organized along with Discus, shotput throw and needle thread race. Mr. Jhalam Singh and Kaushalaya Giri Goswami were the best athelets. Mr. Laduram and Ms.Jaya Kunwar, Mr.Pallav Joshi and Ms Asha Goswami secured first, second and third postion in the overall ranking of students’ performance. Culture and community society won the first position with maximum total score. Governance and Livelihood secured second position and nature society third position.

School Observation Programme: 19 September 2013

The student-teachers of the VBGIES visited schools under the 'School Observation Programme'. They observed students of different grades being taught reading, writing and arithmetic under the Reading Campaign Initiative of the Government. The student-teachers observed that children familiar with reading and writing were taking more interest in the class. They also observed separate lines for girls and boys despite instructions to reduce gender disparity in the curriculum.

New Year Rings In....Welcome 2018!

The college reopened after the winter break on January 1, 2018. Dr.Bhagwati Ahir took over as Officiating Principal for the B.Ed. and D.El.Ed. (composite unit) at the VBGIES campus. The staff and students welcomed her formally at a party on January 5, 2018.

Extempore Speaking Competition, December 22, 2017

As part of Literary activities at the college, an extempore speaking competition was organized by Mrs.Durga Kumawat, our Sanskrit Lecturer. 25 B.Ed. First and Second Year students participated. Topics were: “a memorable event”, “importance of games in life”, “inclusive education”, “teaching skills”, etc. Two students-Karan Chaubisa and Kalpana Shrimali conducted the event and Dr.Sugan Sharma, Principal, presided over. The judges were, Dr.Ashok Shrivastav and Dr.Sushma Intodia. Students Poonam Chand, Prakash Ashiya and Deepak Joshi stood first, second and third respectively.

Hindi Diwas Celebrated: 13 September 2013

'Hindi Diwas' was celebrated at the Institute on 13th September 2013. Students recited poems and expressed their views on various issues in Extempore. Also, the students organized a group discussion, where they shared their concerns about increasing use of ‘Hinglish’ as a threat to the identity of Hindi. The discussion concluded with the view that the identity of Hindi should be preserved and it should be enriched along with the knowledge of English.

Workshop on NCF, NCFTE and RTE : 29 July-2 August 2013

The faculty members participated in the workshops organized by Vidya Bhawan G.S. Teachers College (CTE) on NCF-2005, NCFTE and RTE-2009 from 29th July to 2nd August, 2013.
Ms.Tara Kumawat of the Institute highlighted the need to integrate work with education as productive work leads to the harmonious development of a child. In the ensuing group discussion, participants discussed the possibility of integrating local crafts with education.
Ms. Kumud Purohit discussed the recommendations of the Position Paper of NCF-2005 on Education for Peace. The need to cultivate peaceful ways to resolve conflicts and improving upon self-behaviour by the teacher to become an example were some of the suggestions that emerged during group discussion.
Ms. Kumud Purohit also discussed the psychological impacts of RTE on students, teachers and parents. The misconception about the Act has resulted in indiscipline amongst students as they assume that they will be promoted to the next class anyhow. Teachers felt that the expectations from the teachers are high but there is no effective forum to address their concerns.

Students won in intercollegiate competitions

Students of the institute, Mr.Mukesh Singh Rathod and Ms.Prateeksha Jain participated in the Intercollege Debate Competition and Ms. Neha Shresth and Ms. Divya Ahada participated in the Intercollege Dance Competiton organized by Aravali Teachers Training College on March 11 12, 2016. Ms. Prateeksha Jain secured second position. Solo Song Competition August 18, 2017

As a part of cultural activities, a Solo Song Competition was organised for B.Ed. I and II year students on August 18. The first prize went to Vidya Meghwal, second prize to Bhupesh Bhavsar and third prize to Sunder Gameti. The program was conducted by a student, Khushwant Meghwal and it was presided over by Dr.Sugan Sharma, Principal. Dr.Kanwaraj Suthar, Ms.Nirmala Sharma and Ms.Durga Kumawat were the judges. Independence Day Celebration August 15, 2017

The staff and students of VBGIES joined the Vidya Bhawan Society (VBS) family for the Flag Hoisting ceremony held at our sister institution Vidya Bhawan Govindram Seksaria Teachers' Training College (VBGSTC), Dewali, Udaipur. Shri Ajay Mehta, President VBS was the Chief Guest and Dr.Suraj Jacob was the Special Guest. Reading and Writing Workshop : 20-24 June 2013

A Faculty Capacity Enhancement Workshop was held on “Reading and Writing” from 20th to 24th June, 2013 by Vidya Bhawan Education Resource Center. Resource persons were Prof. A.L. Khanna and Ms. Falguni Chakravarty. Participants developed an in-depth understanding of different types of messages, notices, paragraphs, reports, book review. Those who did not had an email account, created one and enjoyed writing blogs on a variety of topics.

The Extempore and solo song competition at the institute

Ms Nikita Paliwal and Ms Jaya Dewada secured first and second position in the Extempore competiton organized in the college on February 17, 2016 while Mr Mukesh singh rathod and Ms Ritu Rani Purohit remained at third position. Ms Meeta Bhatt and Ms Deepika Vyas secured first and second position in the Solo Song competiton organized in the college on February 27, 2016 while Ms Nikita Paliwal and Mr Mahesh Salvi remained at third position. Workshop on Action Research : 23-27 July 2013

A 5 days' workshop on 'Action Research' for the Second Grade Teachers of seven districts of Rajasthan was organized on 23-27 July, 2013 by the In-service Education Department of the Vidya Bhawan G.S. Teachers College (CTE).
Dr. Sugan Sharma, Principal, VBGIES, elucidated upon the importance of Action Research in the betterment of existing practices and problem solving. She explained the individual and institutional forms of Action research. Dr. Sharma initiated a group discussion in which the participants identified problems and possible solutions as they formulated an Action Research design. Two major problems identified were lack of resources, both material and human, and truancy of the students from school.

English Study Material Development Workshop by SIERT

Ms.Richa Gour of the Institute participated as a Resource Person in the English Study Material Development Workshop for BSTC 1st Year. The workshop was organized by SIERT and ICICI Foundation in several phases in the academic sessions 2012-13 and 2013-14.

Some Fun n Frolic: Staff Picnic to Kumbalgarh, September 10, 2017

Staff members went for a family picnic to Kumbalgarh. This was a welcome break from the hectic work schedule. The picnic area provided a spectacular mountain view and the group stopped by at a riverside temple to have lunch. It was a good opportunity to enjoy a leisurely day under trees with family and friends.

The award was conferred to her at the National Conference on "Sanskrit Sahitya Mei Moolya Tatva Vimarsh" held at Jaipur. Interaction with a Biographer : 23 July 2013

InfrastructureMr. Norman Smith, an archivist, associated with Kriti Gallery, Varanasi visited the Institute and interacted with faculty members on 23rd July, 2013. Mr. Smith is from U.S.A. and is particularly interested in the functioning of Basic Education institutions. At present he is writing a biography of Madam Marjorie Sykes, a creative and committed teacher, who contributed in the implementation of Gandhi’s ideas at Sevagram and developed theoretical interpretations of Gandhi’s visions through self experience.

Micro Teaching Program September 8-16, 2017

Microteaching is a technique to train teachers by providing them an opportunity to polish their teaching skills. This program was organised for the first year B.Ed. students who are novice learners. On the first day, Prof.M.P.Sharma, Founder Director, VBGIES gave a lecture on "Importance of teaching skills". He focused on adopting Gandhian values in teaching. Dr.Sugan Sharma discussed the nuances of each teaching skill with the students. The program was conducted and coordinated by Mr.Yateen Choubisa. The students were divided in six groups in which they practised the skills of introduction, explanation, questioning, stimulus variation, black board writing, etc.

Change of Guard: Farewell Program at the Institute for two members December 9, 2017

Dr.Sugan Sharma, Principal, VBGIES and Dr.Ashok Shrivastav, senior faculty who served different organizations under the VB Society umbrella in the past four decades, were given a farewell from VB on December 31, 2017. With deep gratitude and a heavy heart, the VBGIES family said a formal good bye to them on December 9 and wished them the best in their post retirement years. Dr. Bhagwati Ahir will take charge as Officiating Principal very soon.

National Workshop on “Sustainable Development: Global Responsibility” at VBGSTC, December 8-9, 2017

As part of the Diamond Jubilee Celebration Events at VBGSTC, a National Workshop was organised under the aegis of the Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CTE) Department was held in which a few staff members participated. Prof. M.P.Sharma, Emeritus Professor and eminent educationist said “a lot of time can be saved and problems can be solved themselves if today’s students get reconnected with nature and do not use mobile and computer technology excessively. Teachers are trying hard to keep pace with the advances in technology but even if they are able to use chalk and board efficiently, they can bring about a revolution”. The Chief Guest Shri Ajay Mehta, President, Vidya Bhawan Society, stressed that moral values are the basis for all round development. If we are not sensitive to the needs and concerns of the marginalized in our personal and work life environment, then it affects our thinking and behavior. Dr.Suraj Jacob, CEO, focused on the need to provide opportunities for encouraging playfulness in learning and promoting curiosity in children. The Resource Person, Prof. R.K.Garg discussed the environmental challenges and UNESCO’s Sustainable Development Indicators in detail. This helped in clarifying various concepts related to the theme of the workshop and in identifying and suggesting how these concepts can be woven into the B.Ed. curriculum.

Bramhakumaris speaks on Social Harmony

The GPF center at the institute organized a lecture about “Social Hamony” on 2 November 2015. The speaker was Sister Reeta, Chief Coordinator, Brahmakumaris, Udaipur Center. She talked about Educational Values, Spirituality, Universal Brotherhood, Seven Qualities of Soul, and self consuiousness.

Theater in Education Workshop: 21-22 November 2014

A two day workshop on 'Theater in Education' was organised at the College on 21-22 November 2014. Ms. Sangam Bawa of Vidya Bhawan Education Resource Centre oriented student-teachers about the use of theater in educational practices. The participants learnt about character sketching and situational dialogue making. They prepared and enacted various short plays in groups; these included 'Ajanmi Bitiya', 'Hamne Teer Banaye Teen', 'Jani Jani Han Papa', 'Upper Pankha Chalta Hai' and 'Vano Ko Amanat Rahne Do'. Through peer review the student teachers learnt about the methods of incorporating theater in classrooms. Alphabet formation activity was helpful in developing an understanding on imagination, empathy, coordination and communication during enactments.

Brain Storming on Role of School and Teacher in promoting National Harmony

Dr Ashok Shrivasatav organized a brain storming session on 31 October 2015 for the students and the faculty members of the institue on the topic “Role of School and teacher in promoting National Harmony”. The students freely presented their thoughts about the meaning of patriotism, factors hindering national integration and ways to promote it.

Making Learning Interesting: Teaching Learning Material (TLM) Workshop September 4-7, 2017

A four day workshop was conducted by Dr.Tara Kumawat to demonstrate to the students how we could make teaching more effective. Students developed charts, models, puzzles, working models, two dimensional charts, cartoons, graphs, flash cards, maps, etc. They also presented lessons on some topics using audio-visual aids. An exhibition was displayed after the workshop for the staff members.

A visit to DIET and SIERT

The students and faculty members of the institute visited Udaipur DIET and SIERT for two days (16-17 December 2015) to understand the functioning of various departments functioing for education and teacher training. Vidya Bhawan has a strong history of nurturing upcoming talent and supporting high performance pathways. Staff members are encouraged to progress and follow their talent aspirations along with work. The annual sports and cultural meet for staff members was held during December 2-3, at the Vidya Bhawan Senior Secondary School Grounds. It aimed at promoting sportsperson spirit and camaraderie among the employees. Shri Ajay Mehta, President, VBS, presided over the sports meet. The Jury of Appeal included Dr.Suraj Jacob, CEO; Shri S.P.Gaur, Organising Secretary; Shri Zahid Mohammed, Head, Human Relations, Dr.R.L.Shrimali and Shri M.S.Khatri. Various indoor and outdoor games were held in which the team participated enthusiastically. The two day event ended on a cheerful note with a cultural evening enjoyed by all at the VB auditorium. We presented a group song at the cultural event.

Get-Together and Talent Search Program, August 30, 2017

A get together and talent search program was held on August 30th. The objective was to help the staff and students get familiar with each other, develop interest of students towards co-curricular and extra curricular activities and demonstrate to them how to develop leadership qualities. The livelihood society conducted the prayer session and gave a talk. The Governance society conducted games. The third session was based on international events. This was helpful in understanding the potential of students. Snacks were served in groups so that each member of the group knew the others. In the last session conducted by the Community society, a cultural program was held. Dr.Bhagwati Ahir, Principal, D.El.Ed. course, the chief guest, highlighted the need and importance of having the program.

A discourse on ‘Vivekananda and Education’

Swami Shantatmanandaji, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, New Delhi in a discourse on “Vivekananda and Education” organised by Vidya Bhawan G S Teachers College (CTE), Udaipur on 7th December 2015, spoke that every student has perfection and teachers can manifest that perfection. He oriented students and faculty members about the philosophy of Swami Vivekananada.

Dr.Kanwar Raj Suthar and Mrs.Aruna Mathur participated in this two-day mega event in which eminent speakers discussed on thought-provoking ideas; latest innovations in the field of IT were displayed; workshops were organized for emerging startups and students and the latest citizen-centric projects of Government of Rajasthan were unveiled. It was very informative to hear the dignitaries of Government of India and Rajasthan.

Open Air Session at Bamanwadji Theerth: 19-23 December 2014

The Open Air Session was organized on 19-23 December 2014 at Bamanwadji in Sirohi district. The students studied the environment, culture and community, governance and livelihood practices in the area. The studies were made with special reference to the Jain philosophy. The campers also visited the mines of Wolkem Industries Limited and a Saraswati temple at Ajari. The studies and findings were presented in an exhibition. Plays, songs and dances on the theme of “Conserving Energy Resources” were held during camp-fire at night. The guests included Shri Bhanwarlal Meghwal, Pradhan of Panchayat Samiti Pindwara, Shri Heeralal Kalbi, BDO and Shri Jagdish Tiwari, General Manager and Shri Ashok Kumar, Deputy Manager, Wolkem Industries Limited. A rally and nukkad natak were organised in the neighboring Virwada village on the themes of cleanliness and girl child education.

Volunteering in Pratham ASER Training and Survey November 28-December 3, 2017

Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) is a citizen-led, rural, household survey facilitated by Pratham Education Foundation. It is quoted extensively in research publications, news articles and government policy such as the 12th Five Year Plan (2012-17) and Economic Survey of India (since 2009). From 2005 to 2016, ASER captured enrolment for age group 3-16 years and learning levels for the age group 5-16 years. In 2017, ASER has taken up the task of shedding light on the 14-18 age group in four domains- their activities, abilities, awareness and aspirations. Data is being gathered from one district in each major state of India and 60 villages are being randomly sampled in each district. The survey has been completed in 16 states already. Vidya Bhawan Society partnered with Pratham in this endeavour in the Udaipur district in December. 105 Volunteers participated from three VB institutions- VB G.S.Teachers' Training College, Dewali, VB Rural Institute, Badgaon and VB Gandhian Institute of Educational Studies, Ramgiri. From our college, 30 First Year and Second Year Students of the B.Ed. program, participated in the survey as volunteers. They participated in training on survey methodology (theory and field), during November 28-30, 2017 and later went to 15 villages in the interior areas of Udaipur district and collected data from randomly selected households where youth live. The volunteers gained experience with research and survey methodologies and drew insights about this age group and got familiar with the hopes, dreams, future plans of the14-18 age group, their challenges, efforts needed to bridge India's skill gap.

Role Play, Panel Discussion and Collaborative learning in theory classes

In the months of October-November, theory program was conducted in the institute, during which students understood concepts such as Personality, Music, and Meaning of Education according to Gandhi through panel discussions, role plays and also in collaborative groups.

The Heritage and Community Walk

The students and faculty members of the institute visited Delwada, Ushan and Haldighati Museum during the Heritage Walk on 15 December 2015, organized by the joint efforts of the Gandhi Peace Foundation Center functional at the institute and Seva Mandir. The students learnt about the functioning of “Sadhna”, an initiative of Seva Mandir working for artisan women, providing at present 750 rural and tribal women with an alternative means of income augmentation entrepreneurship through the craft of applique, tanka and patchwork. Mr. Yakoob Mohammad, Seceretary, Delwada Block and Mr. Madhav, Secretary, Badgaon Block oriented students about Seva Mandir’s community empowerment and development efforts working on issues such as hygiene, sanitation, education, use of water and land. The students observed architecture of ancient Jain and Hindu temples and traditional step wells, non formal education centers, multicultural living along with transformative development and social changes brought about by people Self Governance, Village Fourms and Seva Mandir.

Filling and Uploading of Teachr Details, August 29, 2017

Over the past few months, National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) has been working with Quality Council of India (QCI) to design and operationalise a new accreditation and ranking framework forTeacher Education Institutions (TEIs). TEIs who submitted the affidavit or show-cause were asked to log on to the TeachR portal and update the information they had submitted earlier in the year and provide additional information as indicated. This task was completed as mandated.

New Session Begins: Orientation Program (2017-18) held during August 1-3, 2017

The new session for B.Ed. First Year and Second Year students started on August 1. An orientation program was held for the new batch. They were welcomed in a traditional way. On the first day, they were introduced to the Faculty members. Then all the students shared their details, likes, dislikes. This was followed by presentations on the objectives of the B.Ed. program, learning outcomes, curriculum, etc. They were acquainted with Vidya Bhawan philosophy and culture. On the next day, the internship program, each course of B.Ed. syllabus, its objectives, Open Air Program was discussed at length. On the last day, information on the Gandhi Peace Foundation Centre activities, Cultural/literary/sports activities was shared. The students also learnt about library activities and they themselves took a library tour. The program ended with feedback session.

Language Translation Workshop

Ms Kumud Purohit, a faculty of the institute participated in a two days workshop on Language Translation at Vidya Bhawan Education Resource Center organized from 28 to 29 November 2015. The resource persons were Mr Gurvacahn Singh, Prof Ramakant Agnihotri, and Dr. H. K. Deewan from Azim Premji University. The workshop was organized with an objective to identify and orient translators to enable them to counter the lack of good reading material in Hindi for post-graduate and undergraduate students through translations of English, discipline focused articles/books into easily comprehensible, learner friendly Hindi documents.

The Intersociety Dance Competition

A Solo-Dance competition was organized at the institute on 12th December 2015 in which Shalini Chakravarty (Nature Society) stood first, Sanju Suthar second and both Jaya Dewada and Asha Goswami Third.

Updates on technology in agriculture at Kisan Mela: 1-3 March 2015

The students and the faculty members made a visit to Vidya Bhawan Krishi Vigyan Kendra (VBKVK)] Badgaon on 2-3 March 2015 to update themselves about recent advances of technology in agriculture. The three days Kisan Mela was organized under the joint aegis of VBKVK and Friends Exhibition and Promotion, New Delhi with an objective to promote new technology to enhance income of farmers. The students visited various stalls in the Techno-Park; these included stalls of Rajasthan University of Veterinary and Animal Science, Bikaner, MPUAT, National Bureau of Soil Survey and Land Use Planning, Nagpur, Jagran Jan Vikas Samiti, Rajasthan Akshay Urja Nigam Limited, Indian Council of Medical Research, National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad, Vidya Bhawan Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Vidya Bhawan Institute of Local Self Government and Responsible Citizenship, among others. Students and faculty also won prizes in a quiz competition based on observing these stalls and memorizing the information displayed.

“Art and Drama Education”

The faculty members Mr. Yateen Choubisa and Ms. Kumud Purohit participated in a State level “Art and Drama Education” workshop organized by Aishwarya College of Education Sansthan, Udaipur on 12th December 2015.The workshop was conducted to orient the teacher education faculty about the recently introduced “Art and Drama in Education” paper in the new two year B. Ed. Course. The resource persons were eminent artists such as Dr. Shail Choyal, Mr. Deepak Joshi, Mr. Raja Ram Vyas, Mr. Villas Janvae and Dr. Quuyam Ali Bohra. The workshop was inaugurated by Prof Sadhna Kothari, Dean Faculty Education, MLSU, and Udaipur. The resource persons oriented faculty about the role of different forms of fine arts (Visual, Performing and Theatrical) in enhancing and nurturing creative and aesthetic sensibility of an individual through genuine exploration, experience and free expression.

Orientation Program in the beginning of new session

The session started on 8/10/15 with the welcoming of students. In the four days orientation program, faculty members oriented students about theory programs and co curricular activities to be organized throughout the session. .

Tree plantation by Gunijan

Shree Jiyalal of Rashtriya Gunijan Mission planted Amaltas, Aawanla, Guggal, Pattaharchatta, Shatavari, Neembu, Maal Kangani in the campus on 18/8/2015.He identified a herb – "Naami" in the institute's garden to cure Malaria and Diabetes.

Ms. Aruna Mathur, a faculty of the institute secured II position for her paper presented during VII National Conference on Emerging Trends in Industry, Education, and Modern Society( ETIEMS-2015), organized by Aishwarya College of Education Sansthan, Udaipur.

Discussion on Arvind’s Philosophy: 19 November 2014

A discussion was organized on the “Edcuational philosophy of Shri Arvind” on 19 November 2014 at the College. Prof. B.P. Bhatnagar, former Chancellor of Rajasthan Vidyapeeth, highlighted the importance of understanding the nature of child with regards to his or her education. Prof. D.N. Dani, former Vice Principal of VBGSTC said that according to Arvind, every child is a developing soul and every teacher is a gardener taking care of the development of tiny blossoms. Dr. Naresh Mathur also addressed the gathering.


 

Panel discussion on Special Children and Their Inclusion: 27 September 2014

Two of the college students Kalpanshu Singh and Surendra Singh organized a panel discussion on special children and their inclusion on 27 September 2014. College students participated and drew examples from their experiences and discussed about the meaning, causes, requirements and problems of special children and the ways for their inclusion in all spheres of life.

Get-together and Talent Search event was organized on 29 September 2014. Nature and Governance Societies stood first and second respectively in the Handball Throw. In 'One Minute Memory' game Pawan Kumar Ninama of Governance Society; Hanuman Singh, Praveen Singh and Naveen Vishnoi of Culture and Community Society and Poornima of Livelihood Society stood first. Surendra Singh Charan, Surendra Singh, Pawan Kumar of Governance Society; Mahendra Singh, Harilal Suthar, Asha Vaishnav, Pankaj joshi, Pushpa Kanwar of Culture and Community Society and Shweta of Livelihood Society stood second. In 'Filling the Match-box in One Minute' game Bhagwati came first while Pawan Naniwal and Rajendra came second and Naveen, Lokesh and Deepak finished third. Students presented ghazals, solo and group songs and folk dances. Poetry by Jitendra Vaishnav titled 'Sab abhi se badal gaya Maa' depicted the feelings of a girl who is about to be married on the insistence of her parents. Plays and skits on the significance of education were also presented.


 

Annual Function: 21 May 2014

The Annual Function of Vidya Bhawan Gandhian Institute of Educational Studies was organised on 21 May 2014. Chief Guest Prof. B.P. Bhatnagar, former Vice-Chancellor of Rajasthan Vidyapeeth University emphasised on the development of knowledge capital through holistic education for overall development of a person. He gave certificates for the academic year to outstanding students in the field of academics, sports and literary and cultural events. The young student-teachers gave vivid performances, ranging from traditional dances to modern songs.

The students and faculty members of the institute visited neighbouring Dewali, Badgaon, Chikalwas, Kavita, Loyara, Thoor and Madar Govt UPS and Secondary schools from 23 to 30 November 2015 for school observation. The objective of the program was to enable students with an understanding of school, classrooms and students before teaching in schools.

The Campus Cleaning Initiative

Every third Saturday all the students and faculty members join hands for labour services to clean the campus. Every morning also some of the volunteers do weeding in the Shree Dayalchan Smriti Upvaan. The objective behind organising these activates is to sensitize future teachers towards clean Environment.

Open Air Session: 17-21 December 2013

Vanshala, the Open Air Session, was organized at Tulsi Sadhana Shikhar Shivir in Rajsamand district from 17 to 21 December 2013. The student-teachers studied the impact of globalization on the environment, community and cultural aspects, governance and livelihood issues of the area. They formulated study objectives and prepared tools, visited local industries, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, local administrative units, offices of Forest Department and Irrigation Department and marble processing plants to collect data through interview schedules and take observational notes. The findings were presented in an exhibition which was visited by the citizens and scholars. The eminent guests who visited the exhibition included Shri Vijay Prakash Bhatnagar, former Vice Chancellor of Vidyapeeth University; Dr. Naresh Chandra Sharma, former Principal of Govt. Meera Girls College & Govt. College Nathdwara; Shri Dinesh Sandhya, National Coordinator, Lok Adhikar Manch and Shri Sampat Laddha and Dr. Sugan Sharma, Principal of VBGIES. During the five days, rally and street plays were organized against Corruption and Drug Abuse. Students showed their talent in camp-fire.

Bandhej and Lehariya Workshop: 24-26 November 2014

The Udaipur centre of the CCRT (Centre for Cultural Resources and Training), Delhi organized a skill development workshop from 24-26 November 2014 at the College. Shri Sirajuddin of CCRT acquainted students with the tie and dye process of Bandhej and Lehariya. Teacher-students and faculty learnt to draw designs, tie threads, dye and untie clothes. Shri Mansur Ali of CCRT gave training on book binding and making paper envelopes and carry bags. The students did a hands-on by binding books of the College library.


 

An interaction with Aaghaz Theatre group

Aagaz, a socio-political theatre group enacted a play “Gadahapuri ke Aache din” for the students and faculty members of the institute. The act was a satire on the contemporary Socio-political system. In the discussion that followed after the act, students expressed their views about issues such as Smart city, Digital India, Urbanization, Land Acquisition Act and the concept of ‘Development’.

Personality Development Workshop

Prof Ashok Chakranarayan, Mr Narendra Sharma and Ms. Shaila Chakranarayan of Ferguson College, Poona University oriented students about Self Esteem and its indicators in a Personality Development workshop organized on 28- 20 October 2015. The workshop was organized by Secure Meters Udaipur.

Gandhi-Shastri Jayanti program

The Gandhi Peace Foundation Udaipur, Center at Vidya Bhawan Gandhian Institute of Educational Studies, Ramgiri organized a program in collaboration with Vidya Bhawan Senior Secondary School, Badgaon and Vidya Bhawan G. S. Teachers' College, Dewali to commemorate UN International Day of Non Violence and to celebrate 'Gandhi Shastri Jayanti" on Friday, 2 October, 2015. The theme of the program was "Ahimsa se Manvata Tak" Dr. Sugan Sharma welcomed the guests commemorating the role of Gandhi and Shastri in establishing peace and freedom. Prof M P Sharma administered the Nonviolence pledge to all the students and faculty members present. Shree Riyaz Tehsin, Former President, Vidya Bhawan Society, discussed eleven vows and seven sins of Gandhi. He said that instead of teaching the history of victory and defeat, History of peace and Human development should be discussed. Mr. Ajay Mehta, President, VIdya Bhawan Society considering poverty as the worst form of violence expressed that teachers have important responsibility to provide such education that no one remains poor. The students of VB Sr. Sec School Ramgiri, Badgaon presented life incidences of Gandhi through plays. The faculty members sung "Vaishnav Jan To” and "Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram". .

'Teachers as counselors for maladjusted children': 27 February 2015

An Extension lecture was delivered by Prof Sushma Talesera, Coordinator, CTE, Vidya Bhawan G.S. Teachers' College on 27 February 2015. She regarded mental conflicts and suppressed desires in the sub-conscious mind as the root cause of maladjusted children in the class. Teachers should be counselors identifying cases and healing mental health of children. An in-depth study and analysis of the each case is very essential to properly diagnose and provide remedy. She suggested Role plays, story writing and telling as important techniques, music, dances, picnics, dialogues and playing with dolls etc. as possible ways to improve mental health. She also discussed and analyzed case studies conducted by the student-teachers of the College during the school experience program and informed students on the essentials of collecting data and writing individual case studies.
